A congressional report released Thursday by the House Homeland Security Committee's Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence indicates that spying activities linked to the Chinese Communist Party have significantly increased in the United States under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
The report outlines a range of espionage and transnational repression actions allegedly tied to the CCP since the two Democrats took office.
According to Committee Chairman Mark Green, "Beijing has continually encroached upon American sovereignty to spy, intimidate, and harass defectors and American citizens." Data within the report indicates over 55 instances of Chinese espionage in 20 states between January 2021 and October 2024.
The report mentions various incidents involving Chinese nationals, including an attempted breach at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in California in March.
Amid these revelations, the report raises concerns over a sharp increase in apprehensions of Chinese nationals at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The House Homeland Security Committee notes the detention of over 36,000 such individuals in Fiscal Year 2024, surpassing the combined total from 2007 to 2020.Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has ties to China.
So does her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, with Congress currently investigating his Chinese ties.
