The race for governor in Georgia is one of the most closely watched contests in the current election cycle and the Democrats just got some bad news about it. The analysts at the Cook Political Report have moved the race to 'leans Republican' which is great news for conservatives and Brian Kemp.
Stacey Abrams is funded by liberal states like California and New York
- Brian Kemp is backed by Georgians
- A majority of his donations have come from Georgia, while a significant amount of Abrams' donations are coming from California
- Kemp has received most of his money from in-state donors, while Abrams has received the most from California
- The analysts at the Cook Political Report have moved the race to leans Republican which is great news for conservatives and Brian Kemp.
- While the race was, until recently, considered a Toss-Up, Cook Political Report has now shifted the race to the Lean Republican territory.
- Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections had already changed their ratings to Lean Republican and Tilt Republican, respectively.
- We're now about three and a half months out from the upcoming November elections, where voters will not only cast ballots in the midterms but gubernatorial races across the country, including in Georgia.
- Particularly telling for Kemp is that a majority of his donations have come from Georgia, while a significant amount of Abrams donations are coming from California.
