Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will retire at the end of the current term, NBC News reported Wednesday.

Progressives had placed increased pressure on Breyer in recent months to step down from the bench in order to allow President Biden to shore up the court's liberal wing with a choice of his own.

Breyer was nominated to the Supreme Court by former President Bill Clinton and has served there since 1994.
