Fauci Falters As He Struggles To Explain Downward Trend In Texas With Relaxed Masking And Social Distancing

Things got awkward on Tuesday's episode of "Morning Joe" as White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci struggled to explain the downward trend of COVID-19 cases in Texas after the state relaxed both masking and social distancing.

Fauci tried to argue that case numbers dropping amidst relaxed masking and social distancing measures "Can be confusing" because there is allegedly a delay before one would see the impact of these decisions.

He then claimed that "We've been fooled before" as he urged states to stay vigilant with masking and social distancing.

"It can be confusing because you may see a lag and a delay because often, you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect of what you're doing right now," Fauci explained.

"If they do, that would be great, but there's always the concern when you pull back on methods, particularly things like indoor dining and bars that are crowded, you can see a delay, and then all of a sudden tick right back up," Fauci said.

Dr. Fauci on Texas Covid cases dropping despite ignoring his advice on masks/social distancing: "It can be confusing, because often you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect I'm not really quite sure.

This comes a month after Texas Governor Gregg Abbott made it clear that the people of Texas were free to employ their own coronavirus safety measures, regardless of what the government is doing, according to Fox News.
