This
is largely a problem of accountability. Leftist tend to excuse black
misbehavior and belittle police behavior. Consequently whether
legitimate or not blacks and leftist tend to blame white police officers
for conflicts with them, labeling them racist. Here is the dilemma.
Both blacks and police need to be held accountable for their respective
actions. That is not racism, that is the right thing to do. But it is
not a part of the leftist agenda. Agitation, rabble rousing and blaming
whitey is. Blacks have long been conditioned to have negative
attitudes towards police, hence they tend to approach any encounter with
an attitude. This has been fostered by rhetoric within the black
community and exacerbated by black radicals as well as white apologists
and the leftist media and is deeply engrained in the black culture. This
is the attitude displayed by both Obama and Hillary in the first
paragraph in this section and it is totally absurd. It implies that
only whites are racist. The fact is that racism cuts both ways. The
sooner everybody admits that fact the sooner the problem can be
solved. Still, there can be little doubt that the troubled feelings
blacks have are real and not to be minimized. That must change. It is
true that blacks have a history of resisting or being suspicious of any
approach by the police, especially if the officer is white. It is
little wonder that their behavior often displays hostile/threatening
attitudes and/or unpleasant gestures and words. Of course this is not
always the case and most often such encounters end without incident.
Regardless of who and what caused the rise of the current unsettled
climate, it needs to stop and cooler heads prevail. Hostile or
intimidating black behavior needs to be modified and bad actors held
accountable when they are in the wrong. Police must maintain a calm
non-threatening demeanor until or unless facing an obvious threat while
always abiding the law and not let attitudes, words or gestures provoke
them into taking foolish actions. No one should ever rush to judgment
that either a black person or the police involved in an encounter were
at fault. If it is determined that the police were wrong they must be
held accountable. Failing to do this engenders automatic suspicions of
police behavior. This is not a perfect world. Following
serious interracial police encounters, the public and media piling on to
defend their respective sides without the facts needs to cease. Obama
has repeatedly violated this common sense rule. Judgments should only be
made when the facts are established. This is a problem endemic to both
sides, and all concerned need to cool it and await the facts. It is
inevitable that mistakes will be made on both sides but transparent
accountability by involved parties should always prevail. All of us
regardless of color, ethnicity or creed need to have trust in our police
- their job is to maintain the peace. Until attitudes change the
problem will remain. I realize this is a simple common sense
narrative and surely understood by readers but the current climate has
reached the point where common sense is absent. Further, I am convinced
nothing will change as long as the left, black agitators, the media
and black apologists regardless of color or position continue their
current practice of demonizing the police, especially white officers.
They are wrong to focus only on the relatively small number of white on
black encounters while far more deaths result from black on black
encounters. Such imbalance in reasoning promotes racism and certainly
does not promote accountability. Notably when a black cop kills a white
person, it is not news and that is the way it should be whether
encounters involve white or black cops. Our progressive left culture is
filled with charges of white racism, white privilege and the like which
fosters racial tensions, producing a false narrative that only whites
are racist. Cease spouting such nonsense! And that includes everyone
from the President and Hillary on down. The fact is the police can help
resolve the perception they are racist but they alone cannot change the
feelings/perceptions those within the black community developed over a
long period of time. That is where strong black leadership is missing
along with an absence of black accountability. Changing both the
national culture and prevailing liberal/leftist narrative to one that is
more tolerant, inclusive and non-racist is a responsibility all of
us have. All of us, especially leftists and blacks, are accountable for
the consequences if that does not happen.
*This
brilliant and honorable black man lays out his view of the blame for
the racial mess and how to fix it. Quote: "President Barack Obama and
his first attorney general, Eric Holder, called for an honest
conversation about race. Holder even called us “a nation of cowards”
because we were unwilling to have a “national conversation” about race.
The truth of the matter is there’s been more than a half-century of
conversations about race. We do not need more. Instead, black people
need to have frank conversations among ourselves, no matter how
uncomfortable and embarrassing the topics may be. Among the nation’s
most dangerous cities are Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore,
Memphis, Milwaukee, Birmingham, Newark, Cleveland and Philadelphia.
These once-thriving cities are in steep decline. What these cities have
in common is that they have large black populations. Also, they have
been run by Democrats for nearly a half-century, with blacks having
significant political power. Other characteristics these cities share
are poorly performing and unsafe schools, poor-quality city services,
and declining populations." And, "Black
people have the capacity to run the criminals out of their
neighborhoods. Let me put the issue another way. Suppose it were the Ku
Klux Klan riding through black neighborhoods murdering 7,000 blacks year
after year. How many black people would be willing to wait for the
Klansmen to behave themselves or accept political promises and wait for a
government program?" https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/07/walter-e-williams/challenge-black-people/
*This is serious!!!
Remember, Obama and the Democrat left created the environment that made
this possible. Quote: "We still have much to learn about the four
snipers behind last night’s massacre of Dallas police that killed five
officers and wounded seven others. While President Obama and many on the
left have rushed to blame guns in their usual fashion, at least one of
the snipers revealed in no uncertain terms that his motive
was targeting whites — and, specifically, white police officers. And
now there are reports that a “black power” group is taking credit for
the attack on police officers." And, the group's Facebook account
reports "More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days! Do You Like The Work Of Our Assassins? Get Your Own Sniper”. http://www.allenbwest.com/michellejesse/breaking-this-group-claims-responsibility-for-dallas-police-massacre I am sad to say this but I fully believe Obama was seeking this type of response and the resulting violence sure to follow.
