Discussions About Race & The Media

The media has trumpeted the Brown case in Ferguson for months.  It is consistent with their leftist racial narrative.  Quote: "Of all the many foolish things said – and terrible things done – after a grand jury handed down no indictments of Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, the most idiotic defense of rioting is that it’s the only way an “oppressed” population can “make its voice heard.”  That’s especially rich given the nonstop saturation coverage this particular incident garnered in the media since Day One."  Consider now the case of the gang murder of a member of the Bosnian community in nearby St. Louis.  "There’s been virtually zero media coverage of the brutal murder of Bosnian immigrant Zemir Begic on Sunday, despite a large and entirely peaceful protest intended to draw attention to this heinous crime, and other incidents of racist violence.  Begic was sitting in his car at an intersection when a gang of “juveniles” assaulted his car.  When he stepped out to confront them, he was beaten to death with hammers in front of his wife.  The same mob reportedly assaulted at least one other person on the same night; two of them are now in custody.  The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on the murder and subsequent protests – and took about 20 paragraphs to get around to explaining why the Bosnian community is so upset – but nobody in Big Media seems interested, because it would complicate the racial Narrative they’ve been working so hard to spin out of the Brown shooting."  Why does this not appeal to the media?  Quote: "Democrats don’t feel any need to pander to the Bosnian vote.  Anyone who watched the Trayvon Martin story explode from a minor local police-blotter piece with fairly accurate reporting into a national mushroom cloud of utter B.S. knows how powerful the influence of political organizations with good Party credentials on Big Media reporting can be.  The press will run with just about anything that comes from certain email addresses."  To say the media is a part of the racial problems we face is a gross understatement.  They are a major part of the problem.   http://humanevents.com/2014/12/01/the-ferguson-conversation/?

Here is another item pointing out that the discussions surrounding the problems in Ferguson are focused on the wrong thing.  Consider this quote:  "Meanwhile, in an exchange with black MSNBC pundit Michael Eric Dyson, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called the Ferguson killing a rarity. He argued that the “heavy policing” in black areas results from the need to address black crime: “I find it very disappointing that you’re not discussing the fact that 93 percent of blacks in America are killed by other blacks. We’re talking about the exception. … I would like to see the attention paid to that, that you are paying to (Ferguson). … It is the reason for the heavy police presence in the black community. … The white police officers won’t be there if you weren’t killing each other.”  Giuliani, a former prosecutor, hit the nail on the head.  But, black of black crime is not newsworthy.  Despite the fact that 93% black murders are committed by other blacks, for the media hyping white on black issues are more to their liking and both the white and black race baiters agree.   http://humanevents.com/2014/11/27/ferguson-obscures-much-bigger-problems-in-the-black-community/?

And the president does not help at all.  He wants to focus on racist white cops instead of the real problems.  Quote:  "Progressives, Democrats and media outlets stepped up their complaints about law enforcement in African-American neighborhoods after a grand jury decided Nov. 24 to not charge police officer Darren Wilson with any crime following his shooting of a black man in August in Ferguson, Mo."  And the President grabbed "...the public’s attention for December, the White House announced Nov. 30 that Obama has a Dec. 1 morning meeting with cabinet members to talk about federal programs that supply equipment to local police forces.  He’ll also meet with “national civil rights leaders” in the Oval Office, and then meet with a large group of police, elected officials and “community and faith leaders” in a nearby auditorium."  So his knee jerk reaction is to talk about arming the police with more tools and talk to people.  If the president really wanted to help he would take the rest of his time in office and deal directly and intimately with the problems that the black community faces including fatherless homes, rampant illiteracy, persistent dependence on government handouts, lack of opportunities to access meaningful jobs, promoting anti-gang programs and more.    http://dailycaller.com/2014/11/30/obama-tries-to-focus-public-on-racist-cops/

Thomas Sowell puts this whole mess in perspective.  The fact is that the lessons of history have been lost as ideologues and race baiters pursue their destructive goals aided and abetted by the media.

This young man is doing what the so called black leaders should be doing.   http://dailysignal.com/2014/12/02/terrence-williams-cleaning-ferguson-spreading-message-youll-want-see/?
