U.S., Gulf Nations Sanction Iranian Financial Network in Joint Action

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and five other Gulf nations joined the U.S. in imposing sanctions on a financing network controlled by Iran's military and several men linked to the Tehran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Top U.S. Treasury Department officials said the action is the largest ever by the Riyadh-based Terrorist Financing Targeting Center, whose membership also includes the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Difficulty of Brexit Is the Case for Brexit

The constituents of the European Union find that they can check out any time they like, but they can never leave.

The argument against the continued submersion of the United Kingdom within the European Union is that it would constitute an indenture on British sovereignty, liberty, and democracy.

The European Union indentures British sovereignty in the same way it indentures the sovereignty of its other member states, although the United Kingdom wisely arranged to keep control over its own monetary policy.

Compare the British experience in the European Union with the U.S. experience in NAFTA. A European Union that was a kind of grand Continental NAFTA would have been preferable to and much more practical than a political union creating a half-baked United States of Europe, but set that aside for the moment.

When the people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union - rightly or wrongly, intelligently or meat-headedly, however you see it - that should have been that.

British sovereignty has become so entangled in European protocols as to render Brexit difficult if not quite impossible without the cooperation of the European Union itself.

It has even gone so far as to demand the creation of what amounts to a national border for goods within the United Kingdom, in effect permanently ceding a portion of British sovereignty to the European Union.

Jim Jordan Obliterates Dems' Impeachment Inquiry Talking Points: These Four Facts Have Never Changed

House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan on Tuesday blasted Democrats for their bogus impeachment inquiry.

Alexander Vindman, who testified in front of the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight and Reform Committees earlier in the day, is not the first person who has provided details to Congress about the call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"There are four fundamental facts that have never changed, never changed: Mr. Vindman is not the first one we've talked to who has been on the call. We've heard from President Trump and President Zelensky. We've got the transcript," Jordan said.

"Both President Trump and President Zelensky have said no conditions, no pressure, no pushing, no quid pro quo. We've got the transcript that shows that. We know that the Ukrainians did not know at the time of the call that aid had been withheld and, tell me, what actions the Ukrainians or President Zelensky took to get the aid turned back on."

"None of that happened. Those four facts have never changed."

According to Jordan, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff wants to continually talk about various Congressional testimonies that have been leaked even though the main facts behind the call have never changed.

Rep. Jim Jordan dismantles Adam Schiff's arguments in impeachment inquiry pic.

Tulsi Gabbard Rising in New Hampshire Polls, Thanks to Republican Support

A new CNN poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire and released this week shows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard with 5 percent support from likely voters in the state, which is scheduled to hold the nation's first Democratic primary on February 11.

The most interesting thing about the new CNN poll in New Hampshire is not so much the level of Gabbard's support, but rather who is supporting her.

When you dig into the crosstabs of the poll, it shows that 59 percent of New Hampshire Republicans have a favorable view of Gabbard, while only 23 percent of the state's Democrats do.

Unlike some other states, New Hampshire has not canceled its Republican primary to protect Trump from potential embarrassment, but there is little doubt he will win the contest easily.

That means plenty of New Hampshire Republicans could see their own contest as a waste of time and decide to vote in the Democratic primary instead. Gabbard is a likely beneficiary if that happens.

Democrats should think twice before smearing Gabbard as a Republican mole.

How long until Gabbard has to deal with being labeled a Republican asset? That probably depends on whether she keeps rising in the polls-and whether mainstream Democrats like Clinton are foolish enough to ignore her crossover appeal.

No longer an impeachment. Now, it's a railroading

Under pressure to make their Soviet-style impeachment to overturn the results of the 2016 election "Fairer," Trump-maddened Democrats have put on a 'impeachment resolution' public relations show in a bid to legitimize their secret basement hearings.

According to CNN:. The resolution provides the procedural details for how the House will move its impeachment inquiry into its next phase, and it also represents the first time that the full chamber will take a vote related to impeaching the President.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has argued that the vote is not being taken to formally authorize the impeachment inquiry, as Republicans have demanded, but will help "To eliminate any doubt as to whether the Trump administration may withhold documents, prevent witness testimony, disregard duly authorized subpoenas, or continue obstructing the House of Representatives."

We all know that they don't like Jordan, a kickass interrogator, in the impeachment room asking uncomfortable questions of their handpicked deep-state witnesses and blowing apart their "Narratives." It's also worth noting that shutting out the Oversight and Foreign Affairs Committee keeps a lot of vulnerable Democrats in swing districts, uninvolved in the kangaroo court specter.

The shammy resolution, expected to be rammed through Thursday in that desperate Democrat bid to get this whole thing over before the end of the year, does keep the House Intelligence committee under Rep. Schiff in the catbird's seat leading the impeachment as he has so far in his basement, but now it effectively shuts Republicans out of the process.

No wonder public support in swing states for impeachment is fading in three polls, here and here.

After having their non-transparent impeachment process resoundingly criticized, the Speaker is rushing a bill to the House floor that's only designed to fool Americans into thinking this process is fair & transparent.

Why Haven’t We Heard A Peep From Islamic Powers About China Brutalizing 1 Million Muslims?

China is routinely, systematically, and violently attacking the Islamic countries' fellow religious practitioners.

China has trade and military ties with all the major Islamic states, with major investments in Pakistan, Central Asia, Iran, and the Middle East.

So how did China manage to earn the subservience, when more than 1 million Muslims are interned in Chinese concentration camps? And what does that mean for Western policy that we couldn't manage that feat through continuous appeasement? The West Is in Too Deep with China China has compromised and infiltrated Western big corporates and universities.

For decades since the end of the Second World War, in the West among both libertarians and conservatives, the market has been worshiped as something larger than the nation-state, and now that the market has decided China's money is more important than Western social cohesion, the fault lines are increasingly becoming prominent.

Are the Islamic countries afraid of China more than they are of the West? Is that because they worry about losing Chinese investment, or is that because they know that if they provoke China to the point of a war, Chinese military will not follow human rights rules during engagement? It is unlikely that Chinese military in a war situation would follow the careful "Minimal-civilian-casualty" mode of warfare or counterinsurgency the West currently practices.

China's Rise Should Trouble Liberals and Conservatives In one current case everyone should agree that the rise of China should concern both conservative-realists and liberals.

One shudders to think how much manufacturing the Western corporate sector then would have funneled to cheap Russian labor to hollow out heartland England and America, had the autarkic Soviets been more like globally integrated state-capitalist China.

Ethics Commission Denies Hickenlooper Request to Dismiss Investigation

An ethics investigation into Democratic Senate candidate John Hickenlooper will proceed as the commission looking into allegations the former Colorado governor improperly accepted jet travel threw out a motion to dismiss the complaint.

"The Colorado Independent Ethics Commission has voted 4-0 to throw out motions to dismiss the complaint against Hickenlooper.," Denver Post reporter Justin Wingerter tweeted.

Hickenlooper is a former two-term Denver mayor and Colorado governor who dropped his failing presidential bid and is now seeking his party's nomination for the 2020 Senate contest against Republican incumbent Cory Gardner.

The ethics complaint, filed by a former Republican speaker of the house in Colorado just over a year ago, alleges that as governor, Hickenlooper accepted jet rides that should have been considered gifts and therefore prohibited by state law.

The Tuesday decision marks the second time the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission has voted down requests from Hickenlooper's camp to dismiss the complaint.

Just about the time Hickenlooper was preparing to kick off his presidential campaign in February, the commission unanimously shot down a request that the complaint be dismissed.

Recent poll numbers show Hickenlooper with a double-digit lead over Gardner.
