The Federal Reserve is living in a fantasyland

The Fed has failed.
Indeed, only the world-historical disaster engineered by the nincompoops at the European Central Bank has made America's central bank — the Federal Reserve — look remotely good lately.
For eight straight years, under Republican and Democratic leadership, the Fed has behaved like nothing has changed since the 1970s — that inflation is the number one concern, that a return to normal economic conditions is always right around the corner, and that no real changes or innovations are needed. It's a picture of an institution helplessly in the grip of groupthink and intellectual decadence. The Fed remains stubbornly oblivious to clear reality: We are now eight years into a prolonged mini-depression that has only just barely reached a state that might be called "decent" with a straight face. But there is no sign of returning to the pre-recession growth path, and no sign that late-'90s-style mass prosperity is ever coming back.
The Fed is supposed to control the economy via the supply of credit. If the economy is overheating, with spending overtaking production of goods and services, hence leading to inflation, the Fed jacks up interest rates, which makes it harder to borrow money. If the economy is heading into a recession, the Fed can make it easier to borrow (thus stimulating the economy) with lower interest rates.
Interest rates can only go so low — a fact the Fed ran into in 2008. At zero percent interest (or a bit below that), it's impossible to go any lower.
But sometimes zero is not enough. And so the Fed has halfheartedly tried various unconventional stimulus measures to assist the broader economy.

Federal Deficit Is Surging, Sending Ominous Signal About Future Growth

While the world has been focused on the Federal Reserve, the markets and the upcoming election, few have noticed the expansion of the deficit in recent months which is now in excess of $667 billion up from a recent low of $530 billion.
During the financial crisis, the deficit ballooned to a record of $1.35 trillion as tax revenue declined as government spending swelled. Importantly, the federal deficit approached 10 percent in 2009, a historical record for the U.S., but it still remains at levels associated with weaker economic growth rates and recessions.
The decline in the deficit was artificial in many ways as it was primarily due to the reforms from the Budget Control Act of 2011 that included tough spending cuts and a big tax bite affecting most of the middle class. Much of that “austerity” has now been reversed.
The surge in tax revenues was a direct result of the “fiscal cliff” at the end of 2012 as companies rushed to pay out special dividends and bonuses ahead of what was perceived to be a fiscal disaster and higher tax rates.
The large surge in incomes was primarily generated at the upper end of the income brackets where individuals were affected by higher tax rates. Those taxes were then paid in April and October of 2013 and accounted for the sharp decline in the deficit. Also, it is important to remember that payroll taxes also increased with expiration of a 2010 tax cut. (Note: the increased tax collection from payrolls remains currently.)

The Tea Party is Dead. Good Riddance.

Those tea party groups organized and the Washington conservative apparatus stepped in to try to bring some focus, order, and assistance. Donors stepped up and helped fund other groups. Because of Citizens United, small dollar donors suddenly found themselves able to combine resources without a bunch of lawyers and compete against the big guys. Organized tea party groups sprang up, national tea party coalitions sprang up, other groups rose, and the C-Team and D-List celebrity consultants of the right decided to cash in.
Tea party activists were mad at both Republicans and Democrats. They were mad at Democrats for Obamacare and big government and keeping all their promises. They were mad at Republicans for TARP, the General Motors bail out, and breaking all their promises. Over the course of 2009, tea party activists became more and more organized and by 2010 decided to challenge long time Republicans they felt had broken promises while challenging Democrats as well in open seats.
The media portrayed them as racists. They were derisively called “tea baggers” by reporters and left-wing pundits. Republicans really did not know what to make of them. Democrats considered them a hate group. During the 2009 August recess, as Democrats sought to hide from voters, tea party activists showed up at townhall meetings and began embarrassing congressmen by proving these citizens actually knew what they were talking about. Union activists showed up to disrupt the recesses. While the media blamed tea partiers for violence, all but a handful of arrests made at the time were of union activists. Being beset by all sides fostered a lot of unity and solidarity. But then, after the 2010 election, the activists expected the GOP to actually use the power of the purse to hold the President accountable. It did not happen. In the minds of the activists, goal posts were moved by Republican leaders who’d promised action. Excuses were made. The activists got even angrier.

Charles Krauthammer on Hillary Clinton

Recently, Charles Krauthammer alluded that he had no doubt some of the 30k emails Hillary deleted from her private e-mail server very likely had references to the Clinton Foundation, which would be illegal and a conflict of interest.
 
The Clinton Foundation is "organized crime" at its finest.

Here is a good, concise summary of how the Clinton Foundation works as a tax free international money laundering scheme. It may eventually prove to be the largest political criminal enterprise in U.S. History.
 
This is a textbook case on how you hide foreign money sent to you and repackage it to be used for your own purposes. All tax free.
 
Here's how it works:

1. You create a separate foreign "charity." In this case, the Clintons set it up in Canada.
 
2.  Foreign oligarchs and governments, then donate to this Canadian charity.  In this case, over 1,000 did – contributing mega millions. I'm sure they did this out of the goodness
of their hearts, and expected nothing in return.  (Imagine Putin's buddies waking up one morning and just deciding to send untold millions to a Canadian charity).
 
3. The Canadian charity then bundles these separate donations and makes a massive donation to the Clinton Foundation.
 
4. The Clinton Foundation and the cooperating Canadian charity claim Canadian law prohibits the identification of individual donors.
 
5. The Clinton Foundation then "spends" some of this money for legitimate good works programs.  Unfortunately, experts believe this is on the order of 10%.  Much of the balance goes to enrich the Clintons, pay salaries to untold numbers of hangers on, and fund lavish travel, etc. Again, virtually tax free, which means you and I are subsidizing it.
 
6. The Clinton Foundation, with access to the world's best accountants, somehow fails to report much of this on their tax filings. They discover these "clerical errors" and begin the process of re-filing 5 years of tax returns.
 
7. Net result – foreign money goes into the Clinton's pockets tax free and untraceable back to the original donor. This is the textbook definition of money laundering. Oh, by the way, the Canadian "charity" includes as a principal one Frank Giustra.  Google him.  He is the guy who was central to the formation of Uranium One, the Canadian company that somehow acquired massive U.S. Uranium interests and then sold them to an organization controlled by Russia. This transaction required U.S. State Department approval, and guess who was Secretary of State when the approval was granted.
 
As an aside, imagine how former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell feels. That poor schlep was in jail because he and his wife took $165,000 in gifts and loans for doing minor favors for a guy promoting a vitamin company.  Not legal, but not exactly putting U.S. Security at risk.
 
Sarcasm aside, if you're still not persuaded this was a cleverly structured way to get unidentified foreign money to the Clintons, ask yourself this:  Why did these foreign interests funnel money through a Canadian charity?  Why not donate directly to the Clinton Foundation?  Better yet, why not donate money directly to the people, organizations and countries in need?
 
This is the essence of money laundering and influence peddling.  Now you know why Hillary's destruction of 30,000 e-mails was a risk she was willing to take.  Bill and Hillary are devious, unprincipled, dishonest and criminal and they are Slick!
 

Hillary-Putin Uranium Deal: How Long Will Media Ignore It?

Most American voters looking toward November would probably be interested in learning about Hillary Clinton’s prime role in delivering one-fifth of America’s uranium production to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. As this matter is critically relevant to our national security, as well as America’s energy security, voters would probably appreciate learning about it before they cast their ballot for the next Oval Office occupant. However, most Americans probably have never even heard about Bill and Hillary Clinton’s ties to the Uranium One-Rosatom-Frank Giustra scandal, through the couple’s corruption-troubled Clinton Foundation, and Hillary’s official dealings while serving as President Obama’s secretary of state.

That is hardly surprising, considering the overwhelming pro-Clinton, anti-Trump bias of the “progressive” establishment media. But new Clinton e-mails and State Department memos released by WikiLeaks may cause some members of the pro-Clinton press brigade to break ranks and confront the Democratic Party candidate on this vitally important issue. Among the many documents to surface recently is a State Department cable from October 2009 warning of the intentions of  Rosatom, Russia's nuclear energy agency, as it "flexes muscles" with regard to the global uranium market.

State Department officials in Europe cabled Secretary Clinton, warning that a Russian strategy paper they had obtained showed Kremlin plans to gain "long-term supply of nuclear fuel" so they could, among other objectives, "shut" the U.S. company Westinghouse out of the nuclear market and expand Russia's influence over Europe. The cable also warned Clinton that the plan detailed in the Russian paper “is consistent with Russia's efforts to dominate the gas supply market in Europe."
