Science and Such

This item deals with serious concerns we should all have regarding the efficacy of modern day scientific research.  The fact is that considerable evidence exists that money and government are corrupting scientific endeavors.  It goes without saying that not all scientist and scientific activities are corrupt but the unfortunate truth, as the below items suggest, is that because of the corruption that does take place puts people into a position of not knowing who or what to believe.  The items provided in the first half deal with medical science while the second half covers concerns with scientific research methodologies and global warming science. The last item takes a look at GMOs.  I encourage all to give the items provided in this note the consideration they are due.

This does not present a pretty picture of the research conducted within the medical community.  Quote: "Most Scientific Research of Western Medicine Untrustable & Fraudulent, Say Insiders and Experts."  And, "Whistleblower Dr. Peter Rost, former vice president of Pfizer, a giant Big Pharma company, spelled it out. In the video clip embedded below, taken from the documentary One More Girl, he reveals that everyone knows how the “game” works:  Universities, health organizations, everybody that I have encountered … are out there …. begging for money. (Big Pharma corporations) use that money to basically buy influence … (Big Pharma provides) grants for various kinds of research … make sure they (scientific researchers) became beholden … Everyone obviously knows this is how things work.  They (scientific researchers) are not going to continue to get money unless they’re saying what you (i.e. Big Pharma) want them to say. They know it, you know it, and it’s only maybe the public that doesn’t know it.  In this way, the almost the entire medical scientific community has been compromised and has become thoroughly untrustworthy.  http://www.activistpost.com/2015/08/most-scientific-research-of-western-medicine-untrustable-fraudulent-say-insiders-and-experts.html?

This expands the bad science discussion.  Quote: "I’ve written recently about what some scientists are calling an “epidemic” of bad research. Perhaps driven by the pressure to publish groundbreaking findings and to publish them more often, flawed scientific studies are being published at an increasing rate. The editor of The Lancet has written that as much as half of the scientific literature being published today may be untrue."    http://www.redstate.com/diary/jimjamitis/2015/08/18/increasingly-bad-science-is-still-sacrosanct/?

Close ties between doctors and pharmaceutical companies is most problematic.  Quote: "In the HPV vaccine article, Hanley reported receiving fees for lectures from “Japan Vaccine” and “the Japanese Expert Board for the Eradication of Cervical Cancer.”  What’s omitted is the disclosure that “Japan Vaccine” is a venture of GlaxoSmithKline; and “the Japanese Expert Board” has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Merck and GlaxoSmithKline. GlaxoSmithKline makes Cervarix vaccine. Merck makes Gardasil."   http://dailysignal.com/2015/07/01/what-you-didnt-know-about-a-doctors-stance-on-the-hpv-vaccine/?   Here's more.   https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/07/no_author/crony-pharma-and-vaccinations/

This adds to concerns that the medical community's application of science is problematic.   http://www.activistpost.com/2015/08/most-scientific-research-of-western-medicine-untrustable-fraudulent-say-insiders-and-experts.html?   This extends the discussion by elaborating on the collaborative link between the FDA and pharmaceutical companies.  https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/a-message-to-libertarians-about-the-fda/

This item points out that the public should not trust either FDA's research findings or its subsequent rulings.  Quote: "The FDA is little more than a public relations/marketing agency for Big Pharma. Its “research” into the effects of drugs primarily consists in taking the word of the drugs’ manufacturers. It has been implicated in pay-for-play scandals and intimidates and prosecutes whistleblowers who try to uncover FDA scams and schemes."  http://easyhealthoptions.com/death-pain-reliever/

You have to wonder just who the CDC works for - us or the pharmaceutical industry.  Quote: "…the [CDC] co-authors scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the [MMR vaccine] study. The remaining four co-authors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room and reviewed and went through all the hard copy documents that we had thought we should discard and put them in a huge garbage can.” (William Thompson, CDC researcher)  On July 29, US Congressman Bill Posey made his last stand on the floor of the House. Granted five minutes to speak, he laid bare the lying of the CDC in a now-famous 2004 study that exonerated the MMR vaccine and claimed it had no connection to autism.  “No connection to autism” was the lie."   https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/bombshell-cdc-destroyed-vaccine-documents-congressman-reveals/    Here is another item by Rappoport that extends the previous item.  For some time now I have questioned the ethics of at least some of the people at the CDC. This item reinforces my concerns.  Maybe yours, too.   https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/inventing-viruses-a-staggering-hoax/

Continuing on the medical theme, this item holds up the "follow the money" theme in California politics and the inordinate amount of bio-tech and pharmacological industries in the state.  Quote: "The recent California law (#SB277) ordering all public and private schoolchildren to receive the full schedule of vaccines has a context.  A money context. I’m not just talking about corporate donations to legislators. I’m talking about the state of California itself and the businesses that operate here."  https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/08/02/mandatory-vaccination-in-california-follow-the-biggest-money/  Now consider this item.  https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/australia-canada-england-usa-medical-dictatorship/

Quote: "For decades, psychiatrists have been claiming that mental disorders are, at the root, chemical imbalances in the brain.  Dr. Ronald Pies, the editor-in-chief emeritus of the Psychiatric Times, laid that theory to rest in the July 11, 2011, issue of the Times — in Psychiatry’s New Brain-Mind and the Legend of the “Chemical Imbalance” (behind pay wall) — with this staggering admission: “In truth, the ‘chemical imbalance’ notion was always a kind of urban legend — never a theory seriously propounded by well-informed psychiatrists.”   https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/psychiatry-erase-the-unique-individual/

This follows up the previous item.  Several past  items shared with you address the unmistakable relationship between prescribed psychological drugs and mass murders such as those over the past several years.  The latest is the one in Chattanooga.  Prescribed drugs were again involved.  Seems to me that use of these drugs constitute a pattern. Guns are merely the means by which disturbed people on prescribed drugs with known consequences commit their heinous crimes.  Prescribed drugs are likely a part of the problem, maybe even the biggest part of the problem.    http://www.activistpost.com/2015/07/chattanooga-gunman-yet-another-mass.html?

The next few items deal with science generally.  This one is an interesting take on beliefs of many scientists. Quote: "Writing in The Spectator, Alexander Masters points out that despite the idea that scientists deal only in the world of facts, some physicists believe bizarre things that, if professed by non-scientists, would qualify as religion. "    http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/faith-based-physicists/

Quote: "The day has not yet dawned in which a college or university will teach an authentic course called False Science. It would be counter-productive, to say the least, since governments and corporations pour research-grant monies into those institutions and expect a certain brand of compliant science.  Here is the real consensus: researchers go along to get along. Like mainstream reporters, they know what they can say and what they can’t say. They see their boundaries. They understand the “logic” of compromise. They’re aware their job status can take a sudden turn for the worse, if they cross into forbidden territory."    https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2015/07/14/science-logic-consensus-and-propaganda-a-cartoon-of-reality/

An item worth reading penned by a leading weather scientist. He offers three most responsible observations.   http://patriotpost.us/opinion/36771

The term Global Warming is slowly but surely turning into a oxymoron.  Quote: "A scientific expedition to study “global warming” was delayed by record ice in the Arctic."     http://www.infowars.com/global-warming-expedition-foiled-by-record-ice/

Climate Crisis, Inc. (CCI) is the title of a book by Professor Larry Bell.  This item provides a brief review of its contents.  Here is a short note to set the stage for the content of reviewing author's article.  "If millions of people lose their jobs in the process, if millions of retirees die from hypothermia because they cannot afford to heat their homes properly, if millions of Africans and Asians die because they are denied access to reliable, affordable carbon-based electricity – so be it. Climate Crisis, Inc. doesn’t care.  This global warming industry survives and thrives only because of secretive, fraudulent climate science; constant collusion between regulators and pressure groups; and a steady stream of government policies, regulations, preferences, subsidies and mandates – and taxes and penalties on its competitors. CCI gives lavishly to politicians who keep the gravy train on track, while its well-funded attack dogs respond quickly, aggressively and viciously to anyone who dares to challenge its orthodoxies or funding." http://townhall.com/columnists/pauldriessen/2015/08/22/climate-crisis-inc-n2042164/page/full

His many blunders suggests he is really not as smart as he thinks he is.  This lame excuse offered to defend the total and absolute perfection of all of science is ludicrous and reflects poorly on what true science really is.  And his knowledge of the Constitution is seriously wanting.  Quote: "Bill Nye is as wrong about the Constitution as he is about Global Warming and evolution. Even so, liberal media outlets will continue to use him as an "expert" on the subjects."    http://eaglerising.com/21492/bill-nye-butchers-the-constitution-trying-to-defend-global-warming-alarmism/

Now it is appropriate to watch this video hosted by the co-founder of Greenpeace.  Quote: "Since time immemorial, our climate has been and will always be changing. Patrick Moore explains why “climate change,” far from being a recent human-caused disaster, is, for a myriad of complex reasons, a fact of life on Planet Earth."   http://www.thesleuthjournal.com/co-founder-of-greenpeace-what-they-havent-told-you-about-climate-change-video/

EPA Chief Faces "Criminal Liability" for "False, Misleading Statements"

The EPA’s toxic mega-spill of millions of gallons of heavy metal-laden wastewater into Colorado’s Animas River is not EPA Chief Gina McCarthy’s (shown) only problem; a congressional committee has sent her a letter posing the possibility of charging her with “criminal liability” for making “false and misleading” statements during her testimony at a committee hearing on July 9.

A key issue of the hearing, which was entitled "Examining EPA's Regulatory Overreach," was the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's use of “secret science” to further its ever-expansive, intrusive, oppressive, and enormously expensive regulatory agenda. EPA critics have been charging for some time that the agency has been basing many of its most outrageous claims and grabs for power upon supposed “scientific studies” and data that are not available for public examination, or even for members of Congress to evaluate.

U.S. Lets Rich Get Cheap Public Housing: “Positive Social Benefits”

Tens of thousands of people who earn too much to qualify for the U.S. government’s taxpayer-subsidized public housing live in the facilities nationwide and the federal agency that runs the program has no intention of evicting the violators. That’s because “there are positive social benefits from having families with varying income levels residing in the same property,” according to the Obama administration official that runs the program.

Some beneficiaries earn tens of thousands of dollars a year more than the threshold allowed to qualify for the cheap housing and, in at least one case, a millionaire pays a mere $300 a month in rent for a public housing unit in Oxford, Nebraska. The tenant has an annual income of more than $65,000—which alone disqualifies her for public housing—and assets of nearly $1.6 million, including stock, real estate a handsome retirement account and a checking account with a balance of $334,637.

It’s inconceivable that the government allows this abuse to occur, but considering that it involves the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) it’s not all that surprising. The scandal-plagued agency is well known for its many transgressions and for looking the other way in the face of fraud and corruption, even among its own employees. Just a few weeks ago Judicial Watch reported that a HUD employee fraudulently charged nearly $12,000 in personal items on his work-issued credit card and the agency failed to even reprimand the employee or report the wrongdoing after learning about it.

Picking Apart One of the Biggest Lies in American Politics: “Free Trade”

In 1992, Ross Perot won almost 20% of the entire presidential vote on the single issue of stopping so-called “free trade.” Today, several presidential candidates are gaining huge traction with similar opposition to NAFTA, CAFTA, and the upcoming Southern Hemisphere Asian Free Trade Agreement (SHAFTA, now called the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP).

Time has proven Perot right, and his arguments were consistent with a long history of American industrial success prior to the “free trade” era of the past 30+ years.

Our radical experiment of so-called “free trade” has clearly failed America, although few Americans know why or how. Here’s the back-story.

United States Ranks 20th on New Human Freedom Index

The Human Freedom Index presents the state of human freedom in the world based on a broad measure that encompasses personal, civil, and economic freedom. Human freedom is a social concept that recognizes the dignity of individuals and is defined here as negative liberty or the absence of coercive constraint. Because freedom is inherently valuable and plays a role in human progress, it is worth measuring carefully. The Human Freedom Index is a resource that can help to more objectively observe relationships between freedom and other social and economic phenomena, as well as the ways in which the various dimensions of freedom interact with one another.

The report is co-published by the Cato Institute, the Fraser Institute, and the Liberales Institut at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

The index published here presents a broad measure of human freedom, understood as the absence of coercive constraint. It uses 76 distinct indicators of personal and economic freedom in the following areas:

Rule of Law
Security and Safety
Movement
Religion
Association, Assembly, and Civil Society
Expression
Relationships
Size of Government
Legal System and Property Rights
Access to Sound Money
Freedom to Trade Internationally
Regulation of Credit, Labor, and Business

GOP Head of Benghazi Probe Complained About ‘Overclassification’ of Documents

Trey Gowdy, the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, wrote to the State Department in July alleging that certain Benghazi-related documents provided to the committee are "unnecessarily" and "improperly" marked as classified.

Gowdy's letter, obtained by National Journal, was sent just weeks before the controversy over Hillary Clinton's emails intensified with fresh questions about the extent and sensitivity of classified information in her private email system. Gowdy, along with many other Republicans, has said the presence of classified information in the private email system Clinton used as secretary of State may have jeopardized national security.

But some experts believe that overclassification by the intelligence community—that is, needless classification of documents that would not harm security if made public—may be occurring with messages in Clinton's system.

Gowdy also believes some documents are unnecessarily labeled as classified. In this case, Gowdy was concerned with documents connected with the outside panel largely selected by the State Department that reviewed the 2012 Benghazi attack.

"There appear to be substantial issues with respect to the April production of documents related to the Benghazi Accountability Review Board," Gowdy wrote to Secretary of State John Kerry on July 8.

IMMIGRATION EXCUSES

One of the most lame excuses for doing nothing is that we can’t do everything. Such excuses have been repeated endlessly, even by some conservatives, when it comes to illegal immigration.

We can’t deport millions of illegal immigrants already living in the country, some say, so the wise thing is to just learn to live with them, according to the supposedly sophisticated crowd.

This completely sidesteps the plain, obvious, and galling fact that we are not deporting those illegal immigrants who are arrested by the police for violating other laws — and are then turned loose back into American society. In so-called “sanctuary cities” across the country, local police are under orders not to report illegal immigrants to the federal authorities.

Nobody has a right to obstruct justice when it comes to federal laws — not even the President of the United States, as Richard Nixon discovered when he had to resign after Democrats threatened him with impeachment and Republican Senators told him that they would not defend him.
