Subcontractors hit Obama Presidential Center with nearly $900K in unpaid claims

Subcontractors who worked on the Obama Presidential Center are alleging they haven't received payment for their work, leading to legal claims against the center.

Mechanics Liens Filed: Three subcontractors have filed mechanics liens, indicating unpaid construction costs related to the center.

Total Amount Owed: The total unpaid bill is almost $900,000.Individual claims include:

Area Erectors: $620,000 for structural steel work.

CSI 3000: $236,000 for excavation and concrete.

Floors Incorporated: $25,000 for gymnasium flooring.

Construction Management: The Obama Foundation oversees the center’s construction, with Lakeside Alliance as the primary manager. However, Home Court was built by Elevate Design Builders under a separate contract.

Responsibility Unclear: While mechanics liens are filed against the property, they do not clarify who is legally responsible for the payments.

The payment disputes highlight ongoing financial challenges associated with the Obama Presidential Center, raising questions about accountability and management in construction contracts.
