California NGOs have been aiding illegal immigrants to avoid ICE raids

As immigration enforcement increases in Southern California, community groups and local governments in Los Angeles and Orange Counties are providing essential support to undocumented immigrants. They offer food, legal aid, financial assistance, and options for remote work to help families who are avoiding public spaces due to fear of deportation.

Various funds, such as the 805UndocuFund and L. A. Street Vendor Solidarity Fund, are helping families with expenses like rent and utilities affected by detentions. Organizations like the YMCA, Raíces con Voz, and El Monte Business Alliance are facilitating grocery deliveries, care packages, and health services. L. A. Care is providing telehealth options, while mental health crises are being addressed through the 988 Lifeline.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has also expanded summer programs for affected students. Meanwhile, UndocuProfessionals is gathering remote job opportunities for those unable to work publicly.

Writer Tyler Durden shared his views, suggesting that while these support efforts might offer temporary relief, they will not prevent undocumented immigrants from leaving due to increasing financial pressures and deportation risks. He mentioned workshops hosted by L. A. County's Office of Immigrant Affairs to educate residents about their rights and what to do during ICE encounters. Additionally, emergency funds have been established for families facing sudden income loss, as food insecurity is addressed through grassroots initiatives and partnerships.

Ultimately, Durden argued that many undocumented immigrants may choose to leave the U. S. voluntarily if working becomes too risky.
