Federal authorities have arrested 13 members of rival Armenian crime organizations in Los Angeles County. The individuals are charged with serious offenses linked to a power struggle between the groups.
• The arrests include charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, illegal firearm possession, bank and wire fraud, and theft of cargo valued at over $80 million, as reported by the U. S. Department of Justice.
• Notable defendants include Ara Artuni, 41, charged with attempted murder related to racketeering, and Robert Amiryan, 46, charged with kidnapping.
• Both men are identified as leaders of the rival crime syndicates known as “avtoritet,” which means "authority" in Russian.
• The conflict has reportedly been ongoing since 2022, focused on control of the San Fernando Valley.
• Artuni is accused of ordering the attempted murder of Amiryan in the summer of 2023, while Amiryan allegedly planned a kidnapping and torture in retaliation against one of Artuni’s associates in June 2023.
The ongoing rivalry between these Armenian crime rings has resulted in serious criminal charges and significant law enforcement actions, highlighting the complexities of organized crime in the region.
