Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey and Republican Attorney General Mark Brnovich sided with the Democrats in certifying the results of the state's controversial 2022 election - marking the first step in thrusting Arizona Democrat Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs into power despite mounting reports of widespread voting issues, Republican disenfranchisement, and egregious abuses of power leading up to, on, and after Election Day
Election Day
- Tyler Bowyer, the COO of Turning Point Action, tweeted an experience when attempting to vote in Maricopa County, revealing that his ballot had been severely misprinted.
- After speaking to the Poll Chief at the polling station, who reprinted a new ballot for Bower, she said that the misprinting was an ongoing issue with the printers at the station.
The phenomena resulted in long lines of mostly Republican voters, who waited hours to exercise their constitutionally protected right to vote as election workers failed to provide immediate and adequate explanations, nor any substantial remedies.
- An indeterminable number voters left those lines due to the hours-long waits and technical issues, sounding the alarms for election integrity advocates in the state and throughout the nation as the election began to look similar to those in corrupt third world countries
What happened next
- Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who was initially projected to take the governorship by storm, stood by the voters of Arizona
Election Day results
- 32% of all tabulation machines across the entire state of Arizona “failed” on Election Day
- Election integrity proponents saw a glimpse of hope after the election debacle when other counties like Mohave and Cochise attempted to push back the certification date in order to validate the results, citing issues from Maricopa
Using her power as the Arizona Secretary of State, Hobbs' office threatened Mohave County officials with criminal penalties and potentially even jail time if they did not ignore the issues and certify her as the winner
- Twitter CEO Elon Musk revealed that Hobbs ordered Twitter to censor election related misinformation to her benefit
- The Twitter revelations drew the ire of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who declared Hobbs "can not be governor" of Arizona and accused the official of colluding with Twitter to "unconstitutionally violate 1st Amendment rights of Americans for her own political gain."
- Lake previously stressed that upon certification she will take legal action and keep fighting for the voters of Arizona
