Joe Biden and most far-left-wing oriented Democrats along with a lot of other people are unable to see the forest for the trees. Their irrational view regarding gun violence is a prime example. They seem to think guns can operate without the aid of a human being. That is all they seem to think about. Get rid of guns and all will be well. Not so. Guns in the hands of criminals and demented souls are, indeed, dangerous. But they do not focus on professional criminals. All the laws in the world will not stop them from getting their hands of guns.
A tale tale sign that gun violence is not a real concern for them is the fact that Democrat cities and states have the strictist gun laws in the country. But they are hotbeds of gun violence. Indeed, gun free zones are an open invitation for gun toting criminals. But the poor demented souls whose deranged thinking causes them to do dangerous things like mass shootings, suicides and gang violence do deserve consideration. Such is the case of the Texas mass shooting caused by a mentally disturbed 18 year-old kid who killed 19 children and two teachers and tried to kill his grandmother. And, the same goes for the copycats that have followed suit.
The words and thoughts offered here are not original to me. They have in one way or another been offered by others. What I am simply doing is pulling together a rational fact based discussion to clear the air and provide context, logic and common sense to the debate. I truly believe guns are not the problem. It is the human beings wielding them that are. The rest of the paper seeks to prove that point and more..
The things mass shooters do and the way they behave send signals that need to be observed and preventatively acted upon before they take steps to do their dastardly deeds.Time after time such information was available but not acted on. Finding out what drive these people to do what they did is the starting point for finding a solution. Most mass shooters are either products of a dysfunctional home environment, are radicalized by things like oddball cults, have a radical political ideology, have a vendetta against someone or something tangible. Some are even suicidal. It is obvious they suffer from observable mental health conditions. Mass shootings are relatively recent events. Possible reasons will become evident as we proceed. But first a little background.
Guns have been as much a part of American history as apple pie. Indeed people were proud of their guns. Some displayed them over their mantels and on the walls of their homes because they were proud owners and so they would be at hand should cause for their use arise. In years past when old enough students took their guns to school. Schools even had gun clubs used to teach students the ins and outs of guns and gun safety. Communities had gun clubs where shooting competitions took place along with teaching gun owners the rules of gun safety. Hunters in olden times used them to kill game to feed their families. Some still do. Gun shooting events are even a part of Olympic competitions. Guns have long been a part of American daily life. While known to be dangerous if not handled carefully they were not considered as weapons to fear. Until things started to change in our culture. An enemy from within has been deviously at work plotting a change of course...
This paragraph provides a short historical perspective against which the balance this paper can be viewed. Guns also have another purpose. The Second Amendment gives all Americans the right to gun ownership. There is a very good reason that amendment exists. It goes back to the very time when our nation was founded. The people of the time were familiar with and most had guns for food and protections from indians and predatory animals. Life was hard but good. They were free from oppression. But that was destined to change. In need of funding after several wars emptied the financial resouses of the British empire's treasury. As a consequence in search for needed funds the British viewed the American colonies as a ripe target. The Parliament stared levying onerus taxation on the Colonies. Attemps were undertaken to ease the burdens but all of them failed. So much so that civil war clouds started formulating. To take control of our own affairs separation from oppressive government was increasingly considered by the Colonists. Nonetheless, separation from the British empire was not what most people wanted. But since all attempts to acquire relief failed, Thomas Jefferson was tasked by the standing government under the Articles of Confederation to write the Declaration of Independence which outlined for the British Crown and parliment the colonist's grievances. Those grivancenses fell on deaf ears. History records the events that followed. One such event was the Boston Tea party in response to oppressive taxes levied on tea the colonies had to import. More taxation on other products and services followed. Finally colonists reached the end of their rope when the British army marched on Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts in an effort to suppress resistance to British control. The American Revolution was underway. The colonists had no standing Army with which to fight Britian's well equiped standing army. All they had were their militias and their personal firearms that were a staple in most if not all homes. With those weapons and eventual help from France a war of attrition ensued. The war lasted for five long years but eventually the British army surrendered at Yorktown in 1871. The peace treaty was formally signed the next year. Once the Revolution was over and peace and independance secured the Colonies were free to determine their own destiny. The Founders eventually convened the Constitutional Convention to establish how the Colonies were to govern themselves. For the purposes of this paper one of the many considerations they dealt with was how to defend against possible aggression from another government. The lessons they learned during the war were still fresh in their minds. They knew if such an event ever recurred that every citizen needed to be armed in order to defend their country. Hence, the Second Amendment was born. It reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The unfortunate truth of our time is that left-wing political forces within our own government are duplicating much of the egregious type deeds against "we the people" that King George and the British parliment conducted against the Colonies. Democrats know the purpose of the Second Amendment. But it is an obsticle to their long lightly veiled attempt to seize control over the rest of us. That obstical means our guns must be taken away. That is the real reason for all of their gun control histrionics. It is not the loss of lives of poor children and others they claim to be concened about. They need to take away our guns so they can fulfill their political objectives. Period. Hence, logic and reason do not register with them when they seize upon their gun grabbing rhetoric every time a tragedy like the one in Texas happens. Their mantra is always gun control. Other solutions receive only token consideration to deflect from their real objective.
On the evening of 2 June 2022 Joe Biden probably delivered the most dishonest, deceptive, and hypocritical speech of his some fourty years in politics. He ranted and raved about how dangerous guns are and something must be done to stop all the tragic deaths from gun violence. He demanded Congress come up with a fix post haste. To top it off he lamented the deaths of all the innocent children and others who are killed by guns. And displayed a gross lack of understanding of the Second Amendment. His emotional appeal to his audience was an act worth an Oscar. His appeal to all Americans to join with him and the Democrat party to remove this scurge from the face of the earth was insincere. Nonetheless the mainstream media praised him for his efforts. By the time we finish this discussion you will understand why Joe Biden's speech was nothing but pure left-wing political malarky.
Now to the purpose of this paper. It is divided into three sections. First we will deal with just some of the causes of deaths within our country, including AR-15s. Second we will discuss possible causes of gun violence and failing civil discourse and finally we will review the facts covered and discuss the consequential findings and render a conclusion.
