Cesar Sayoc, Jr., Identified as Mail-Bomb Suspect

Cesar Sayoc, Jr., a 56-year-old man living in Aventura, Florida, was identified as the suspect in the mail-bombing case that has gripped the nation in recent days, a senior law-enforcement official confirmed to The Daily Beast. Sayoc is a registered Republican who was charged with making a bomb threat in 2002, according to documents cited by The Daily Beast. The outcome of Sayoc’s 2002 case is unclear. Documents also show that Sayoc was convicted of theft in 2014 and 2013, and battery in 2013. In 2012, he filed for bankruptcy, declaring in court filings that he lived with his mother. Sayoc’s van, found at the scene of his arrest, is reportedly plastered with political decals, including “Dishonest Media,” “CNN Sucks,” and a Trump/Pence sticker, according to photos tweeted by people who believe they have seen the same vehicle. NBC reports that officials confirm they found pictures of Trump on the van.
