That's not the only economic problem facing the country.
Further, economists across the political spectrum - including Larry Summers, who served as director of the National Economic Council under President Barack Obama - have said that government and central bank programs are causing inflation and that additional spending could lead to an even greater, potentially catastrophic inflation spike.
Democrats are pushing a $3.5 trillion climate, education, and welfare bill.
The more Democrats spend, the more likely the Federal Reserve will be forced into the difficult decision of either increasing interest rates, further slowing economic growth by making lending more expensive, or allowing inflation to continue, driving up prices for consumers and lower-income families.
Only a return to fiscal sanity, mixed with pro-growth economic policies that encourage people to return to the workforce, the very opposite of Democrats' present policy platform, can avert disaster.

From 1980 to 2016, 19 counties, most of them industrial counties in the northern and midwestern United States, voted for the winner of all 10 presidential elections.
As far back as records are publicly available, three of the key states in the 2020 election - Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina - have moved in favor of the same party that made overall registration gains since 2000.
In 2016, with narrow margins in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, Trump's camp had no concern over recounts or potential audits in any of those three states that decided the election.
Instead, the establishment media insists that, despite thousands of affidavits and personal accounts describing fraud along with the recent Arizona state Senate hearing on Maricopa County's audit, the 2020 election was "The most secure in U.S. history."
If new audits indicate fraudulent election outcomes in other states, we the people, through our states' legislators, have somber and serious obligations to consider, if not for us then for future generations of American citizens.

AZ Audit's 3rd Paper Recount Complete, Ballots Sent Back to Maricopa County
The Arizona state Senate Audit team completed the third paper recount and the ballots will be sent back to Maricopa County.

COVID spreading fast in well-vaccinated California counties
A Bay Area News Group analysis shows not only are cases rising fast in much of the Golden State, they are soaring in many urban counties that boast high vaccination rates.
Five California counties have both a higher percentage of their eligible residents fully vaccinated and a higher average daily case rate than the statewide average: Los Angeles, San Diego, Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco.
The five counties with falling case rates - Modoc, Glenn, Lassen, Del Norte, San Benito - have below-average vaccination rates.
There have been mixed reports about the vaccines' effectiveness against the variant, most of which indicate they still offer broad protection, and case rates show the fully vaccinated remain well protected.
For the week of July 7-14, the average daily case rate per 100,000 among unvaccinated Californians was 13 while the rate for the vaccinated was 2, the CDPH said.
In Contra Costa County, which reports case rates by vaccination status, the average rate per 100,000 among the unvaccinated was 27.8 on July 16 - six times the 4.5 rate reported in the vaccinated population.
In Sonoma County, the rate was 15.1 among the unvaccinated, and 3.7 for the vaccinated.

35,000 Americans Getting Symptomatic COVID-19 per Week Despite Being Vaccinated: CDC
Vaccinated Americans are getting infected with COVID-19 every week, according to a recent estimate from a top U.S. health agency.
While the COVID-19 vaccines reduce the incidence of disease, hospitalization, and death, approximately 0.02 percent of Americans who are vaccinated against the CCP virus have still been contracting it on a weekly basis, according to the estimate.
COVID-19 cases among vaccinated Americans are known as breakthrough cases.
The CDC has come under fire this week for recommending vaccinated persons wear masks, an abrupt shift from under three months ago, without being able to point to published data to support the change.
The internal presentation, dated July 29, says breakthrough cases are expected to increase as a proportion of total cases as the number of vaccinated people grows.
The presentation also points to evidence that vaccines lower the viral load, or amount of virus, and duration of illness in the vaccinated who experienced breakthrough infections, and cites unpublished data as showing no evidence of waning immunity among the vaccinated.
Others questioned whether the evidence presented by the CDC should lead to a change in behavior among the vaccinated.

This tension between crisis and the order of liberty supplies important context for the turn to emergency politics in contemporary American life.
In a recent viral Twitter thread, Johns Hopkins political scientist Lilliana Mason argued that many Trump voters fit a quasi-pathological type that has threatened American democracy for nearly two centuries: a "Particular faction of Americans who have been uniquely visible and anti-democratic since before the Civil War.... We need to worry about the very real threat posed by an anti-democratic group that has always existed in the electorate."
If Winthrop argued that entering a "Community of peril" meant that the Puritans would have to rely on each other even more, contemporary emergency politics often pits Americans against one another.
A war on "Bad" Americans offers the illusory clarity that drives social-media engagement but corrodes the deeper sense of responsibility essential for democratic politics.
Of course, the politics of emergency is not particularly new.
Taming emergency politics means addressing some of the policy shortcomings of recent decades: restoring economic vitality in many parts of the country, helping young people marry and start families, diversifying opportunity, confronting the growing sense of precariousness for health care and other issues, rebuilding robust cultural institutions, and so forth.
The intellectual tensions of emergency politics nevertheless should be acknowledged.
