DOGE Announces Another $2B in Savings—You Won’t Believe What They Found

The Trump Administration continues its efforts to reduce government spending through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Recently, DOGE announced significant budget cuts totaling nearly $2 billion.

• Over five days, 163 contracts were terminated, resulting in a savings of $647 million.

• Notable cuts include:

• A $35 million USAID contract aimed at supporting democracy in El Salvador.

• A $280,000 Department of the Interior contract for horse-mounted patrol grooming services.

• A $102,000 Department of Transportation contract for an assessment specialist.

• A $179,000 State Department contract for English language training for the US embassy in Armenia.

• A $25,000 DOI contract for facilitation services.

• Critics question the necessity of funding for overseas democracy support and the practicality of some contracts, highlighting concerns over waste.

In addition to these cuts, Congress has also ended taxpayer funding for public media, including NPR and PBS, citing perceived biases. These cuts reflect a significant shift in government spending strategy under the Trump administration, aiming for efficiency and accountability. DOGE plans to continue its spending cut initiatives.
