Two former U. S. Postal Service employees have been indicted for stealing over $80 million in Treasury checks.
• The individuals involved are Tauheed Tucker (23) and Saahir Irby (27), who worked as mail processing clerks in Philadelphia.
• They allegedly stole thousands of envelopes containing Treasury checks and sold them to Cory Scott (25) and Alexander Telewoda (25).
• Scott and Telewoda advertised the stolen checks on Telegram, sending them to unsuspecting buyers who attempted to cash them.
• Approximately $11 million of the stolen checks were successfully cashed at banks.
• The four men face serious charges: conspiracy to steal government funds, theft of government property, and mail theft, each risking up to 20 years in prison.
• Irby also faces additional charges related to another incident of mail theft involving Treasury checks.
This theft scheme highlights significant issues regarding mail security and the integrity of postal employees.
