Lindsey Graham Drops a Bomb at William Barr's Doorstep

Say what you will about South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham - and lots of things are said about him for sure - but he is one powerful hombre in Washington, D.C. today.

As the new Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, when Graham talks, people listen, and you can bet Attorney General William Barr was listening when the Senator held a press conference this morning in which he called for the appointment of a new special counsel.

Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham on Monday accused the FBI of "Unprofessional conduct" in its initial investigation of potential links between Russian election interference and President Trump's campaign and called for a new probe of its origins.

He urged Attorney General William Barr to appoint a special counsel to examine the issue.

Sen. Graham also said his Committee will conduct its own investigation into the origins of the counterintelligence investigation targeting the Trump Campaign in late 2015, and into the rampant misconduct within the DOJ, FBI and various U.S. intelligence agencies.

For Attorney General Barr, Graham's call for a special counsel investigation presents an inflection point in which he will either demonstrate he is a real AG who is truly intent on doing the job of bringing the real wrong-doers in the nations biggest political scandal to justice, or just another placeholder who, like Jeff Sessions, sees his main job as protecting the interests of the D.C. deep state establishment.

If Huber is, as many suspect, just a beard Sessions used to mask his own lack of interest in holding anyone truly accountable, Graham's call for a special counsel offers Barr the chance to differentiate himself from his do-nothing predecessor.
