Tales of Disbelief And Failures To Effectively Deal With Real Problems

Lying Harry Reid dares call the victims of Obamacare liars when they complain that Obamacare is not what they were told it would be. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/02/you_lie_says_lightweight_harry_reid.html  and here:  http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/harry-reid-insists-obamacare-horror-stories-are-lies-big-three-nets-ignore

The item at this link could be a good thing.  The problem being addressed to my way of thinking is too narrowly focused.  PBS News Hour recently had a piece on this initiative which is aimed at providing disadvantaged black youth a means to improve their social and academic skills.  President Obama recently highlighted the program at a White House ceremony. The PBS piece included a discussion with two people familiar with the initiative.  Black Princeton professor, Eddie Glaude, observed that while it is a good initiative, it fails to deal with the systemic issues that created the problems in the first place - he cited poverty, government dependence, fatherless children, etc.  Here is a short quote:  Glaude said "...he was skeptical that the public-private partnership would offer a significant enough response to the problems the initiative was trying to solve.  What we are doing is putting a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound.  And I guess Band-Aids are OK.  But what we need is a more robust discussion, a more robust policy initiative to address the crisis that is engulfing, I know, particularly black communities.”   My opinion.  It is a "show" piece to make Obama look like he is engaged and dealing with a problem.  The first link provides an overview of the program.  The second is a synopsis of the PBS News Hour piece.  My sense of the project, while good, it is far too narrow in scope and serves Obama by making him look like a humanitarian - which by his many destructive actions and policies he certainly is not.  http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/02/obama_creates_cabinetlevel_agency_for_people_like_him.html  And,   http://ec2-54-204-18-44.compute-1.amazonaws.com/newshour/updates/obama-gets-personal-effort-help-young-men-color/
