This is an idea whose time has
long been in the making. By repealing the 16th Amendment the country
would benefit immensely by eliminating the federal governments power to
tax individual citizen's income and a parallel benefit would be either
the total elimination of the IRS or at least a significant reduction in
its size and power. This item briefly considers the alternative of
either the flat tax or fair tax proposals with have been around for some
time as candidates for replacing the odious income tax. Consider this
quote: "It has now been proven beyond any reasonable doubt that the
existence of an agency such as the IRS is too great of a temptation for
ambitious politicians. The Sixteenth Amendment must be repealed.
Further, the very purpose of taxation should be refined to funding
government operations. It should never be allowed for social engineering, redistributions, punishment, or spying."
