Ilhan Omar Given May 5th Deadline to Produce Documents on Massive Feeding Our Future Fraud Scandal After Refusing to Appear at Minnesota House Hearing

Rep. Ilhan Omar has been given a deadline of May 5th to submit documents related to her involvement in the Feeding Our Future fraud scandal. This request follows her absence from a scheduled hearing where she was invited to speak.

• The Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Oversight Committee is demanding Omar provide all records and communications tied to her potential involvement in the fraud case.

• Omar did not attend the committee hearing and failed to respond to multiple inquiries from the committee chair, Rep. Kristin Robbins, who expressed frustration over her lack of communication.

• The committee's letter to Omar specifically requests:

• All communications between her office and the convicted owners of Safari Restaurant, which is linked to the scandal.

• Information about her interactions with individuals already convicted in the case.

• Records related to her sponsorship of the MEALS Act, legislation that allegedly facilitated the fraud.

• The Feeding Our Future scandal involves the theft of over $250 million meant for child nutrition during the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of this money went to luxury purchases and international accounts, linked to nonprofits associated with the Somali community.

• Safari Restaurant was identified as a major location for fraudulent meal claims, with Omar reportedly holding campaign events there.

• The committee accuses Omar of creating conditions that enabled the fraud through the MEALS Act, which removed restrictions on meal providers.

Omar has not publicly replied to the committee's demands or her absence from the hearing. Rep. Robbins emphasized that Minnesota taxpayers deserve answers from Omar regarding her involvement, asserting that if she has nothing to hide, she should address the allegations openly.
