EXC: Trump Administration Hands Millions to Refugee Admission Groups

Recently, the Trump administration has approved significant financial support for organizations involved in refugee resettlement, despite ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and fraud.

• The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) plans to grant nearly $7 million to two organizations for refugee case management and integration.

• One major recipient is the Community Sponsorship Hub in St. Paul, Minnesota, set to receive over $2.5 million. This area is notable for ongoing fraud investigations related to Somali immigrants.

• The Community Sponsorship Hub aims to enhance the number of refugees in the U. S. and is actively working against Trump’s immigration policies.

• The second grant, up to $4.5 million, will go to Catholic Charities USA, a large organization known for its refugee resettlement services. Critics argue that it enables mass migration and opposes strict immigration policies.

• Despite Trump administration rhetoric on immigration control and fraud investigations, the simultaneous funding actions highlight a disconnect between public statements and administrative actions.

These funding decisions underscore the complexities and contradictions in U. S. immigration policy. While the administration emphasizes fraud prevention, it continues to bolster refugee resettlement programs financially.
