Fear Mongering, Sequester & Hypocrisy

We all heard the President, members of his administration and the media hype the calamity sequester would heap upon the government and the nation.  We now know that the hype was nothing more than a blatant attempt to scare the public into demanding it not happen.  Be aware the hype will continue but with a twist (ie: hype bad news as sequester related while depressing good news).  Despite their hopes for continued unfettered spending, sequester happened.  The sky did not fall.  It is obvious that the administration was well aware that nothing of major consequence would result because of a leaked White House email telling a subordinate to make sure sequester cuts "are as painful as possible".  The hypers need to make sure their pre-sequester hyping appears credible.  Translation:  Cut visible things - things that hurt; not inconsequential things that need to be cut.  They fully intend to try to convince the American people that tax and spend is the solution, not the problem.  See first link.

We also now know that federal hiring proceeds apace despite all the pre-sequester hype about devastating lay-offs facing federal workers.  Nevertheless, 400 federal job announcements were posted the Monday after sequester went into effect.  See second link.

It is also now clear that the looming threat of sequester did not dampen government agency zeal for spending even knowing that it was about to hit.  For example, new uniforms for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers are obviously a high priority item.  The government cannot perform this vital TSA security function without new uniforms so they worked hard to award a $50 million new uniform contract just before sequester went into effect. See third link.

Many more examples could be provided but you get the idea.  Well, I will mention just one more:  On March 4th, Secretary of State John Kerry announced American taxpayers (notwithstanding sequester) would fund $250 million in new aid for Egypt's hostile Muslim Brotherhood government.  And, he added that our government could, if need be, give them $1.5 billion more. You see, Mr. Obama and his minions consider sending them money we don't have is far more important than solving our country's mounting debt and spending problems.  To them American citizens and our welfare are obviously secondary to the needs of non-American tyrants. See the fourth link for a good wrap-up.  I ask you.  Is this type behavior representative of an honest, effective and efficient government looking out for our interests?

Check out link five for a glimpse at how past presidents, both Democrat and Republican, successfully dealt with the kinds of problems now facing President Obama and his administration.  You will learn why (at least in part)  Mr. Obama's failed and failing policies and those of his facilitators are way, way off base.  Apparently history was not their best subject in school.  And they need to be administered a strong dose of common sense, too.
