ICE Moves to Save 450k Unaccompanied Minors Abandoned, Lost Under Biden’s Border Policies

 The U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is starting a new program to help protect 450,000 unaccompanied children who entered the U. S. during the Biden administration's term. This program comes in response to concerns over their safety and well-being.

1. Partnership for Safety Checks:

• ICE is collaborating with state and local law enforcement to assess the current situation of unaccompanied minors.

• The initiative, called the UAC Safety Verification Initiative, aims to conduct welfare checks to ensure these children are not subject to abuse or exploitation.

• The initiative stems from claims that the Biden administration's border policies have left many children vulnerable to human and sex trafficking.

• The Trump administration's actions are framed as a response to the dangers that arose from these policies, emphasizing the need to locate and rescue these children.

3. Efforts in Locating Children:

• Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin highlights that over 24,400 unaccompanied children have been found through direct visits and door-to-door checks.

• The initiative began in Florida and expanded to include multiple states, where various arrests of sponsors involved in serious crimes have occurred.

4. Concerns About Unvetted Sponsorships:

• Reports indicate that many children were placed with sponsors without proper background checks.

• Senator Chuck Grassley criticized the Biden administration for failing to provide adequate oversight and care for these vulnerable minors.

5. High Numbers of Unvetted Children:

• According to Grassley’s office, a significant number of unaccompanied minors (11,488) were placed with sponsors who had no background checks, and 79,143 children were placed in homes without proper vetting.
