How New Mexico Democrats Covered Up Epstein’s Crimes

On November 17, 2025, the FrontPage Magazine, accuses New Mexico Democratic officials and power brokers of shielding Jeffrey Epstein from scrutiny at his Zorro Ranch—a 10,000-acre compound near Stanley, NM—while House Democrats deflect blame onto President Trump amid ongoing Epstein file releases. It argues that recent Oversight Committee emails meant to implicate Trump instead prove he severed ties with Epstein years earlier, and calls for investigations into state-level cover-ups rather than federal "magic files."

Epstein bought the core Zorro Ranch property in 1993 for ~$12 million from former three-term Gov. Bruce King (D), a dominant NM political figure from the 1950s–1990s. The deal included surrounding King family lands, a private airstrip, and state grazing rights for isolation, enabling alleged abuses, parties with politicians, and trafficking of underage girls (some as young as 14–15, per victim claims).

Without King's facilitation, Epstein—lacking prior NM connections—couldn't have established this secluded site, farther from NYC/Palm Beach than needed for mere retreat.

Epstein funneled money to NM Democrats, suggesting quid pro quo:

Gary King (Bruce's son, NM AG 2007–2015): Received $15,000 directly in 2006; returned $30,400+ in 2014 from seven Epstein-linked shell companies at his St. Thomas (USVI) address, exceeding legal limits—indicating evasion tactics. Gary worked under Bill Richardson in the Clinton admin before becoming AG.

Bill Richardson (NM Gov. 2003–2011, Clinton UN Ambassador): Donated $50,000 of Epstein's 2006 campaign funds to charity upon scandal; visited Zorro Ranch once (with wife) in 2002, per his team—denying underage girls' presence but not the visit. Accuser Virginia Giuffre claimed Epstein trafficked her (at 16) to Richardson for "massages" at Zorro; he denied all, cooperating with feds (died 2023).

Others: $10,000 to Land Commissioner Jim Baca (Clinton alum); donations to Sheriff Greg Solano (resigned over embezzlement). Epstein's "little black book" listed King family members.

Post-2008 Florida conviction, Epstein registered in NM in August 2010 but was removed two days later via a "loophole": His plea involved a 17-year-old victim (NM consent age), ignoring broader allegations (e.g., 14–15-year-olds). This occurred under AG Gary King, who in 2011 touted anti-trafficking efforts at the UN—while Epstein allegedly operated unchecked at Zorro (with airstrip/grazing rights shielding activities).

Prior Probes: AG Gary Balderas (succeeded King) launched a 2019 inquiry (coordinated with Maurene Comey, James Comey's daughter), interviewing victims and seizing state land docs—but closed without charges, forwarding to NY feds. October 2025 release of thousands of pages (police reports, witness statements, internal memos) was "almost entirely redacted" under NM's "sources and methods" exemption—hiding potentially explosive info.

2025 "Truth Commission": Democratic lawmakers (e.g., Rep. Andrea Romero) propose a 9/11-style panel with subpoenas ($2.5M budget, results in 2+ years) to probe Zorro abuses/trafficking, amid survivor calls—but critics question timing amid federal tensions (e.g., Trump's file releases). Ranch sold in 2023 to undisclosed buyers (renamed Rancho de San Rafael); no FBI raid despite Giuffre's claims.
