Security clearances of 37 former, current intel professionals revoked

The Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, announced the revocation of security clearances for 37 former and current intelligence professionals due to allegations of abusing classified information.

• Gabbard emphasized that holding a security clearance is a privilege and that those in the Intelligence Community must uphold their constitutional oaths.

• The decision was made following guidance from President Donald Trump, particularly after claims that intelligence related to Russiagate was fabricated, which Gabbard termed a “coup” and “treasonous. ”

• She accused the revoked officials of politicizing intelligence, leaking classified information, and serious violations of standard practices.

• Gabbard pointed to former President Barack Obama as being behind these alleged manufactured intelligence assessments.

• She claimed that Russia believed Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 election and withheld damaging information about her instead of using it to influence voters.

• Gabbard presented details of Clinton’s mental health issues from DNC emails as further evidence supporting her argument.

• The timing of the clearances’ revocation relates to a grand jury investigation by the U. S. Department of Justice into these allegations.

The revocation of these clearances underscores concerns about the integrity and security of intelligence operations and their implications for national security and democracy.
