Federal authorities recently arrested 10 individuals, including a motel manager, during a crackdown on alleged human trafficking in South Los Angeles. This operation is part of the ongoing Initiative called Operation Broken Blade.
● The arrests are part of a larger effort to combat sex trafficking and prostitution in an area known for such exploitation.
● Six members of the Hoover Criminal Gang and the manager of the Stadium Inn & Spas were taken into custody. They face serious charges, including sex trafficking and money laundering.
● Three other individuals were charged separately, bringing the total to 10 arrests.
● The indictment details that gang members targeted vulnerable individuals such as runaways and minors, luring them with false promises and then subjecting them to violence and control.
● The motel manager, Mukeshkumar Rambhai Ahir, is accused of participating in the operation by handling over $64,000 from trafficking proceeds.
● Some victims were reportedly as young as 14 years old, with allegations of severe abuse and coercion to continue in the sex trade.
● The local and federal law enforcement agencies aim to dismantle these trafficking networks and support the victims, assisting in their recovery.
These arrests are part of a focused initiative to disrupt human trafficking operations and protect those exploited in the Figueroa Corridor. If convicted, many defendants could face significant prison sentences.
