After the impolitic Zelensky’s return, Europe grandstands against Trump

Following Ukrainian President Zelensky's visit to the White House, European tabloid responses showcased a mix of support and criticism. Columnist Andrew Neil argues that Europe continues to portray Zelensky as a heroic figure against Russian aggression, despite the complexities of the situation. There is speculation about whether recent visits from British and French leaders were coordinated setups to bolster Zelensky's image.

Since Trump expressed a desire for peace regarding the Ukraine conflict, Europe appears eager for continued support as long as the U. S. funds the efforts. The past actions of European leaders during World War II are referenced, questioning their current resolve.

Critics argue that the portrayal of Zelensky is part of a theatrical performance unlikely to have lasting significance. Concerns are emerging in the U. S. regarding how Biden’s administration has handled war funding to Ukraine, with significant resources possibly unaccounted for.

Trump has suggested that the establishment of the EU aimed at opposing the U. S. , while recalling that Russia was once an ally against Hitler. Yet, the evolving geopolitical landscape complicates these historical ties.

Furthermore, Trump’s recent dismissal of Zelensky's expectations for continued U. S. support without a commitment to peace reflects a shift in American leadership perspective. Amidst claims that Zelensky had no intent of signing a deal during his visit, the dynamics between the two leaders highlight contrasting approaches.

President Trump’s view emphasizes the value of human life and a reinvigorated American stance in global affairs.
