Activists Brag of Tracking ICE to Protect Criminal Migrants

Activists are actively tracking U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations that target illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds, including pedophiles, in a campaign viewed as aiding criminals. In response to ICE's presence in neighborhoods, community leaders organized a quick counteraction using text chains and social media to alert residents about the raids. Alderman Michael Rodriguez noted that activists promptly started reporting ICE sightings through these communication channels.

The network of community activists mobilized to follow ICE vehicles through their neighborhoods, with some individuals on foot and others driving. Jennifer Aguilar from the Little Village Chamber of Commerce remarked on the large turnout of various organizations supporting these actions. Following the November election, immigrant-rights groups prepared for increased enforcement, and by Thanksgiving, they began offering training on knowing one’s rights to their members.

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) established a dispatch center-style hotline for reporting ICE raids, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activity. Upon receiving such reports, ICIRR coordinates with local groups to confirm ICE sightings and provide assistance to anyone arrested.

These activities have drawn attention to the involvement of elected officials and civic groups in undermining federal law enforcement. While the Little Village Chamber of Commerce operates as a 501(c)(6), ICIRR functions as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, both of which are under IRS jurisdiction. There is speculation about potential actions federal authorities could take against these groups.
