Lawsuit filed to force Pennsylvania counties to count incorrectly dated mail ballots

Lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania aims to force counties to count thousands of mail-in ballots that have voter-errors.

The lawsuit challenges a provision in the law that voters, must write the date, on the envelope of their mail-in ballot.

The lawsuit claims that the provision violates the Pennsylvania constitution, and that several courts believe that the "Written date" does not help determine if the ballot arrived on time.

Nearly 8,000 mail-in ballots from last year's November election were rejected for errors with dates, and signatures.

"So here we have a requirement that people have to sign and date. And include a handwritten date that means nothing. Right, everybody agrees that we're talking about tens of thousands of ballots that were received on time. They complied with every other step in the process. And this one step means nothing".

The lawsuit also claims 10,000 ballots were not counted because of the dating provision in the 2022 mid-term election.

The ACLU argues that counties should contact voters when their ballots are set aside for incorrect dates.

Editor's Commentary:

This lawsuit, an obvious ploy by Democrats to sway the results in their favor, is an insult to the honest citizens of Pennsylvania who value fair and transparent elections.

The rules for mail-in ballots are clear and have been established to ensure the security and legitimacy of the voting process. Deadlines are in place for a reason: to maintain order and prevent chaos. Every voter is well aware of these rules, and it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure their ballot is submitted correctly and on time.

This desperate attempt to change the rules after the fact is a blatant disregard for the law and sets a dangerous precedent. If we start accommodating late ballots, where does it end? Will we see a flood of lawsuits trying to bend and break the rules to favor one side or the other?

The citizens of Pennsylvania deserve better. Our elections must be decided by the will of the people, expressed through lawful and timely votes, not through manipulative legal maneuvers. It's time we put a stop to these shenanigans and upheld the integrity of our democratic process.
