Common Sense Thinking (or lack thereof) 1

1)  The race for the White House is on.  Consider the options.    http://townhall.com/columnists/patbuchanan/2016/07/28/philadelphia-vs-cleveland-divided-we-stand-n2199514?

2)  Take a quick look at this short item.  It is a reminder of what we all need to keep close to our minds and hearts.  Quote: "Many in our audience express dismay about people not being able to discuss hot-button issues – politics, religion, race, sexuality – without it devolving into anger and name-calling.  Why is it that people can’t have a disagreement without taking things so damn personally?"   http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/why-can%E2%80%99t-people-disagree-without-taking-things-so-damn-personally?

3)  This item discusses the root cause of so much of the troubles our nation faces.  Quote: "Too many Americans feel that their minimal participation in the political process is all that is required and that voting in the right candidate is all that is needed to set the country on the right course. This is a process that repeats over and over again; one political party holds the reigns for four to eight years and then the other party promises to fix all of the problems created during that period. The people, for the most part, tend to just follow along, not really taking any active part in the process until just months before the election.  Of course, this is something that the political elite anticipate and capitalize on, an ignorant, uninformed population."  And, "It is the personal belief of this author that there is a deliberate creation of hopelessness among the population in order to sway opinions and attitudes in the favor of the elite. People are either paying no attention at all, blissful of the potential danger their apathy creates, or their minds are preoccupied with problems that others tell them they should be concerned about.  Others are aware that the system is a complete sham and that we are being manipulated to the ends of a power hungry oligarchy that seeks to completely dominate all aspects of human being.  We are the conspiracy theorists and our opinions are usually completely disregarded. Whatever the case may be one thing holds true; most Americans, because we are so busy with our day to day lives trying to survive, have completely forgot that the government of the United States belongs to and answers to us. We have forgotten that the maintenance of liberty requires personal responsibility and that holding political representatives accountable is our duty, and if we wish to pass onto our children a better, more secure nation, we must guard liberty with a jealous fervor."     http://freedomoutpost.com/the-acceptance-of-a-corrupted-morality-is-the-real-problem-we-face/

4)  This is a heads up we all need to consider as we ponder our votes for the November elections.  We definitely do not want to take the path Venezuela has traveled.  Here is the results of an independent agency explaining why. Quote: "The tragedy unfolding in Venezuela is a result of eroding economic freedom in that country over the past 40 years, according to a new publication released today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan Canadian public policy think-tank."  http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/-2148927.htm

5)  This is a prime example of illogical thinking, a total absence of common sense, and absolutely no acknowledgement of the facts of history.  Progressive/Leftist's live in awe of their idealistic utopian socialist dreams which always in practice turn into terrible nightmares.  Will they ever learn?  Given their history it seems unlikely.  Quote: "One of life's enduring mysteries is why the left -- against overwhelming evidence to the contrary -- insists on more taxation, more government spending and more government control over the private sector. Europe's socialism has, over the last several decades, generated few private sector jobs and lags in growth when compared to the United States with its comparatively lighter hand of government.  What does it take to show that, good intentions aside, government bureaucrats cannot spend money as efficiently and as effectively as the people who produce the money? The most recent example is Venezuela. Hugo Chavez's handpicked successor now presides over a country with food lines and soaring inflation, all directly attributable to the pursuit of a socialist paradise where a benevolent and enlightened government redistributes wealth from the greedy few to the entitled many. It ... does ... not ... work."  And, "Full-blown socialism, as in Venezuela, or income redistribution, as in America, is an assault on prosperity. The victims are those who can least fend for themselves, the very people the left purports to care the most about."  http://townhall.com/columnists/larryelder/2016/06/30/the-embrace-of-socialism--despite-its-track-record-n2185478?

6)  Democrats have really good friends, very wealthy friends, wielding very influential impacts on party politics.  And the Democrats have listened to them and yielded to their well funded wishes.  Wishes which will make their financial interests pay multiples in handsome returns if Hillary is elected.  Quote: "After spending more than $100 million to elect Democratic politicians, and with more money on the way, Tom Steyer basked in policy victories at the party’s convention this week as delegates adopted a climate and energy platform that closely mirrors his own positions.  Steyer, a former hedge fund manager and strident environmentalist, decried the influence of money in politics at events in Philadelphia even as the party that he has spent millions supporting backed proposals for green energy subsidies and carbon restrictions that would benefit companies in which he has invested." Be aware that before Steyer converted to environmentalism he made his money in fossil fuels.  He obviously saw another cash cow emerging with the left's addiction to environmental programs, which to date have not done so well.  I call that hypocrisy.  And, "According to Federal Election Commission records, Steyer has steered more than $105 million to independent expenditure groups and Democratic campaigns and party organs since 2013. Steyer insists that massive influx of money had nothing to do with the Democratic platform incorporating his specific policy goals. “You absolutely cannot” buy policy changes with political contributions, he told Bloomberg. However, in the case of the Democratic platform, changes were made following Steyer’s large influx of contributions that reflect some of his highest priority policy positions. The Energy and Environment Legal Institute, a free market group critical of Steyer, flagged at least seven instances where the platform closely mirrored Steyer’s positions on energy and climate."    http://freebeacon.com/issues/tom-steyers-very-good-week/?   If you buy his claim that you "cannot buy policy changes with political contributions", I have a plot of land on Mars for sale at a really good price.  This type Money influence over Political Policies is far too fascistic for my tastes. Besides it is an affront to the public who "expects" government to look after the "people's" interests above crony business interests having vast wealth but who want still more.

7)  This is an example of the government violating the First Amendment to the Constitution.  Not only that it also violates the full and historically established intent of the founders.  Remember this country was founded in large part by people who fled the religious oppression of governments in Europe, namely, the English government.  Later it was Colonial church leaders/pastors who preached against oppressive English government rule and supported both the separation from England and the American Revolution. Now our secular government is emulating the English model and seeking to restart the whole historical cause of its original founding.  What a travesty.   http://www.wnd.com/2016/08/holy-war-government-tries-to-control-church-sermons/   This is proof positive that secular humanists, liberals, progressives and Democrats learn nothing from history.  A major shift in American governance was launched by Lyndon Johnson's active efforts to muzzle church exposing illegal government actions and corrupt government actors.  If you doubt, check the history of  his leadership while in the Senate by imposing Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code on churches.  It supposedly grants them tax benefits as long as the do not criticize government.  It was a direct assault on the ability of churches and preachers to call out the government corruption when it violates decency, ethics, morality and the Constitution.  You can learn more at: http://hushmony.org501c3-facts.htm   Far too many of todays pastors have been conditioned to behave in the manner Johnson intended. Most are not critical of government and stay out of politics. Imposing the 501c3 IRS rule is a violation of free speech, religious conscience and the Constitution.  The fact is that churches are already exempt from federal taxes (501c3 is not necessary to be tax free entities) and do not need to be muzzled by that unconstitutional IRS rule.  Preachers have every right and even an obligation to ignore 501c3 and do their jobs. Inform the public as well as tend their souls.  The media certainly does not do its original job of being America's watchdog.  It, instead, now aids and abets illegal and corrupt government, except when conservatives and Republicans are in power.  So churches need to step into that gap.

8)  This proves that Obama has absolutely no common sense, he never did.  He does, however, have a sense of how to destroy the fabric of laws in our country.  Not only does he act illegally, he encourages his administration to do so and he invites both illegals and Muslim terrorists into our country.  This is what Obama's former top security advisor has to say.  Quote: "Affiliates of the Islamic State terror organization are already residing in the United States, though exact numbers are unclear due to the Obama administration’s efforts to downplay and hide information about this threat from the American public, the former director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency told the Washington Free Beacon in a wide-ranging interview. Gen. Michael Flynn, an adviser to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump who served as a top intelligence official under the Obama administration, warned that “they are here” when asked by the Free Beacon to characterize the threat posed to Americans by undercover ISIS adherents." http://freebeacon.com/national-security/obamas-top-intel-general-isis-already-america/?    It seems obvious to me that Obama has committed multiple acts of treason and deserves due punishment following a fair trial.
