In Washington, “When the money talks, our freedom walks.”

**** LOGIC AND COMMON SENSE ****
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year.
Folks, for 30 years being an engineer, logic and common sense have been my guide in determining the results of the goals I was trying to attain. Emotions were only involved when I could not find the answer to a problem (frustration mostly) but continued with logic and common sense, then the answer would be found.
Why am I saying this? Because we are in not only an election cycle but I believe one of the most important elections our country has ever faced and emotions cannot be what determines the outcome.
As I hear both Republicans and Democrats state how the other party is the fault of one problem or the other, realize one basic fact, they are both right. The system is failing the We the People of the United States of America. We don’t have leaders anymore, we have politicians who main purpose is to get reelected. Oh yeah, with some legislation that on the surface sounds like it is business for We the People but in reality the legislation is so full of pork and special interest influence, the title of the legislation has many things in them which have very little to do with what the title states.
.
Now back to logic and common sense. When I ran for US Congress in 2010, I again was thinking in this mode where I could state the problems and give methods which would fix things and at first I thought I had a chance of winning. Boy was I wrong!!! The political system relies on emotions with a touch of politicized logic and a problem cannot be fixed with emotions and political sound bites. We are seeing the result of electing people with emotional sound bites rather than the complete facts and methods for fixing the problems which confront our country today.
Let me give you an example, the number one problem on people’s minds today. Jobs, jobs, jobs. Where are the answers for this? The government’s answer has been to hire people into the government which has become the most expensive workforce in the nation’s history and they produce nothing but are an economic burden on the free enterprise system and continue to impact the basic freedoms of our country.
Stop right there because I can hear it now, Obama is the fault. Yes that is true today but Bush #2 when in office he did the same thing. When we were losing on the average of about 80,000 private sector jobs per month, during his term in office, the government was hiring about 17,000government jobs per month, otherwise the number of job lose would be almost 100,000. So you see it isn’t party related, it is the fact that neither party in government knows how to stimulate the economy, just oppress it with its rules and regulations for the advantage of one political and economic influence or the other, plus more control centered in Washington.
We cannot afford this anymore economically or for our freedoms. Folks we are losing our country to smaller and smaller group of economic and political power elite. If you think this is conspiratory or BS then your head is so far in the sand, you won’t realize it until you lose the very basics this great nation has too offer in our economic and personal freedoms.
In the US House of Representatives ANYONE who has been in office for over 2 terms is part of the problem that includes YOUR Congressman or woman. They have produced nothing but political stalemate. That is why we have nothing but disasters coming out of Washington, when they actually do something.
In the US Senate, the country club of government, if your senators have been there for over 1 term, they too are part of the problem. So you must look into the background of their voting record to see if they work for you or special interests. To help you find out the voting records and who fills their reelection coffers go to this website to find out the details of everyone in elected positions of government. www.opensecrets.org
Now for the big one, the President of the United States. Wow, this is getting very interesting. Currently we have 4 front runners Obama, Romney, Gingrich, and Paul.
Obama, besides blaming everything on Bush, he has continued the downward trend of our economic and personal freedoms.
Romney, slightly more conservative than Obama, remember Obamacare was designed after his Massachusetts’s healthcare plan. His approval rating leaving office as governor was in the 30% range.
Gingrich, he spearheaded along with Boehner the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act which allowed banks to speculate in the markets (how has that worked out?) and other things like agreeing on a national health insurance plan and siding with Pelosi on climate change issues.
Paul, a person who has many of the right answers economically but many of his foreign policies are not attainable but pushing for a mile of success may gain a yard of success.
Is this an endorsement for Ron Paul? Not directly but with the enormous economic problems facing our country, he is the only one who has not only pointed out the reality of our economic problems but has methods to correct them. If our economy collapses, all else will be minor in comparison.
One way or another, there has to be major changes in how the government and the economic system currently operate. This may be the last chance to affect change logically or the changes that will take place will be under duress with knee jerk reactions, not a logical and common sense approach. It is time for common sense and logical methods in determining our next President. Remember, we are Americans first and foremost not Republicans or Democrats. Our nation is in trouble and we need leaders who know what it will take to correct these inequities with sound legislation, not sound bites.
