Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney

• Liz Cheney, in conversation with ABC's Jonathan Karl, on why she should win her primary election fight - a fight which polls say she is losing badly
• "Well, I think it's important because I will be the best representative that the people of Wyoming can have. The single most important thing is protecting the nation from Donald Trump."

Wednesday's hearing made clear the committee has been about three things all along

• Wanted to disqualify Trump from running for office again
• Discouraged voters who supported Trump and made sure that they are disqualified from participating in the political life of the Republican Party
• Sent an unequivocal message to any future aspirants to public life that transgression of policy norms will be met with the harshest measures

Cheney has made herself the very symbol of the corruption of elitists within the American political establishment

• She’s doing her best to remake the American constitutional republic into a banana republic, where a favored political class reigns supreme and any legitimate political challenges to that class will be met with threats of prosecution

In January of 2017, more than 50 House Democrats made a point of targeting the Trump inauguration by boycotting it and attacking Trump as an "illegitimate president."

• This led to ugly street clashes in downtown Washington.
• Six police officers were injured and 217 protesters arrested.
