Another Look At The Scandals And At Least A Partial View Of Their Roots

Now I ask you is it okay when agencies of the federal government start investigating both the liberal and conservative media because they don't like what is being reported?  Is it a legitimate government function to attempt to shut down free speech rights guaranteed by the First Amendment?  Should all Americans be concerned?  You bet!  Let's take a brief look at what they were trying to do.

The first link describes attempts to shut down any conservative outlet that expressed differences with the Administration's policies that in their opinion:  infringed individual liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, crushed the American economy, used taxpayers as sugar daddies to pay for things they wanted and not what is best for the country, deliberately engaged in efforts that resulted in an out of control debt burden for our children/grandchildren/and beyond, promoted questionable tampering of elections, foisted upon the population objectionable laws, challenged the Federal Reserve's policies of endless printing of money which debases the value of the dollar, senselessly engaged in costly foreign entanglements and provided huge funding hand-outs while our economy spirals downward, we were being repeatedly lied to, law abiding religious citizens/patriots/returning veterans/believers in the Constitution were unethically labeled as potential terrorists and much more.  Even the President repeatedly derided these groups in subtle and sometimes not so subtle ways in his public statements.  In short, the administration acted as if the federal government alone was the arbiter of our First Amendment rights. What message do you think that sends to the President's subordinates throughout the administration and his collaborators in Congress and the media?  To me it says, without having to directly tell them, do what you have to do to address these "problems."  They did; hence, the multitude of scandals now emerging.  His expressions of shock and dismay ring hollow as do his promises to root out the perpetrators and punish them.  It was he who set the tone for his administration - they were simply following his lead.  See this link:  http://www.newswithviews.com/Kincaid/cliff730.htm  and this one:  http://www.nationalreview.com/article/348566/agency-after-obama%E2%80%99s-own-heart-jonah-goldberg  And, finally this link provides an example of the IRS sitting on conservative applications for tax-exempt status while sending through liberal ones with lightning speed.  Do you think that was the kind of support the president expected?  I do. :  http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/irs-stalled-conservative-groups-but-gave-speedy-approval-to-obama-foundation/2013/05/16/90c53e8a-be57-11e2-89c9-3be8095fe767_story.html

And now to the progressive/liberal mainstream media.  In the beginning they were captivated by then Senator Obama.  They thought he was a liberal/progressive with dreams and ambitions after their own hearts.  His promise of hope and change and support of all things progressive made him into sort of a god.  Indeed, their adoring reporting of his every word and action placed him on that level.  But, behind the screen Obama the manipulator had other plans that eventually burst the mainstream media's bubble.  He was and is not what they thought.  And, the reality is that some of the grandiose promises he made are turning out to be nothing but bad realities. They were deceived as were most Americans. His dreams did not match theirs or ours.  Check this link to gain a perspective:  http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/05/the_end_of_the_obama_illusion.html  Another item.  This one shows how the President feels about government.  Don't be misled by the media he says - trust government.  If nothing else comes from these ongoing government scandals, maybe we will learn that trusting the government is something we should never do.  http://spectator.org/archives/2013/05/17/oops-maybe-government-is-tyran

To close out this note, here is a somewhat humerous but really just a sad commentary of the aftermath of this and several past administrations and their respective scandals.  http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/05/capital_powerball_scandals_grease_washingtons_wheels.html
