My thoughts on vacating Speaker Johnson

 

There is a lot of talk swirling around Washington about a possible move by one or more House Republicans to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson. It’s all moving very quickly, but if Johnson is vacated like his predecessor, it will be of his own doing. I explained on X/Twitter here:

In short, Johnson is moving forward with plans to break his promise to not fund Ukraine without securing the border.  Details of the plan include a weekend vote on a series of foreign aid funding measures (which are gimmicks and will be re-combined through a special procedural rule) including a reported $60.8 billion to Ukraine and a $95.3 billion total price tag. Mike Johnson is a neo-con Speaker who has shown he’s more willing to put Ukraine’s border defense before our own. I discussed much of this with Steve Bannon on War Room moments ago, but i’ll leave you with this:  If Mike Johnson is vacated from the Speakership, Washington will erupt with fury, but he alone will be responsible for this own demise.
