The Mainstream Media and The Obama Administration Scandals

In this first article Caroline Glick does a good job of laying out the Administration's many efforts to deflect the public away from the real truth and replace it with a government established "official truth".  She writes "With the flood of scandals now inundating the White House, many are wondering if there is a connection between the cover-up of Benghazi, the IRS's prejudicial treatment of non-leftist nonprofit organizations and political donors, the Environmental Protection Agency's prejudicial treatment of non-liberal organizations, and the Justice Department's subpoenaing of phone records of up to a hundred reporters and editors from the Associated Press."  Now that these have become public the curtain has been pulled back giving credence to past charges of other scandalous acts which the Administration and the mainstream press had successfully tamped down.  In all probability at least some of them will now resurface as the evidence of a pattern of dishonest, unethical and illegal activities become ever more apparent.  As everyone should know by now some of this scandalous behavior reaches back to the early days of the Obama Administration and likely impacted, at least to some degree, both 2010 and 2012 election outcomes.  Glick notes that by targeting those objecting to his policies "the Obama administration completes the circle of an overall modus operandi of punishing those who oppose and expose the failures of his policies - domestic and foreign. The underlying theme that connects Benghazi to the Tea Party, to the subpoenaing of AP phone records, to Z Street, to Nakoula is that they all have challenged the administration's official truth.'" http://townhall.com/columnists/carolineglick/2013/05/18/obama-and-the-official-truth-n1599386/page/full

That Administration scandals have become radioactive to much of the mainstream media is illustrated by one of President Obama's most loyal supporters.  Until now MSNBC's Chris Matthews has faithfully supported Obama personally, his policies and anything he said or did and tirelessly berated anyone who differed in any way with him.  He now says that Obama "...doesn't like dealing with other politicians -- that means his own cabinet, that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn't particularly like the press.... He likes to write the speeches...going on the road, campaigning, visiting businesses like he does every couple days somewhere in Ohio or somewhere...He doesn't like lobbying for the bills he cares about. He doesn't like selling to the press. He doesn't like giving orders or giving somebody the power to give orders. He doesn't seem to like being an executive.”  When did he have that sudden epiphany?  http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2013/05/chris-matthews-sours-on-obama-164095.html

Regarding Obama's repeated claims of ignorance of scandals in his Administration, he expects us to believe that he learns about them just like we do - from television and the newspapers.  To this incredulous claim the Daily Show's liberal host Jon Stewart recently quipped "I wouldn’t be surprised if President Obama learned Osama bin Laden had been killed when he saw himself announce it on television.”  http://www.rightwingnews.com/barack-obama/even-jon-stewart-is-now-ripping-obama-over-the-irs-scandal/  The fact is if Obama is that disconnected from what his Administration is doing then he is not the president. Decisions and debates of a politically unethical/toxic nature like those that spawned the current spate of scandals do not reside at low levels - they go to the very top.  Consequently, it is a certainty that he knows exactly what is going on and to deny it is an unsavory, even cowardly, attempt to distance himself from culpability with no regard for the harm being done to those on which he willingly lets the blame fall.

As many of us have long known the mainstream media has been a huge Obama fans and even a facilitator for advancement of his career and policies.  They were totally in the tank for him and their reporting/lack of reporting showed it.  But now their enabling relationship with Obama and his team has been ruptured.  As noted in the next link that only happened because they learned that the Department of Justice started targeting media sources reporting things the Administration did not like, did not want to be public or those that were unfavorable or hinted at potentially shady goings-on.  The goal was to find out who within the Administration were media's sources.  That's a no-no, a punishable offense....only the "official truth" can be released to the media and the public, you see.  As long as the Administration targeted people and organizations that opposed both Obama's agenda and those of the media, they were okay with attacking, belittling or ignoring them.  But when the mainstream media realized they were themselves in Obama's crosshairs too, now that's different. That can't be - the First Amendment, freedom of the press and all - what hypocrites.  Consider this observation from the next link. "The IRS story has been reported by independent sources since the gestapo operation began in 2009.  The main stream press ignored it all until it... found itself a target of the Obama administration via Holder’s DOJ."  Then he adds " the main stream press had a sudden interest in multiple 'scandals' they had ignored or covered up for more than four years." http://www.newswithviews.com/JBWilliams/williams248.htm

Rest assured only the tip of the iceberg has been uncovered. Things are going to get rough for Obama and his gang.
