Former Atlanta Housing exec pleads guilty to multiple fraud charges

 A senior executive at Atlanta Housing, Tracy Denise Jones, has pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges involving housing assistance, pandemic relief funds, and mortgage fraud. The guilty plea was entered on February 2, 2026.

• Tracy Denise Jones, a long-time senior vice president at Atlanta Housing, was accused of misusing Section 8 funds, improperly obtaining COVID-19 relief funds, and making false statements in a mortgage application.

• She is charged with three counts of fraud totaling over $36,000 in Section 8 payments, more than $27,000 in relief funds, and $219,780 in mortgage fraud.

• The misconduct involved programs regulated by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Small Business Administration.

• Atlanta Housing has acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and stated that internal measures were in place, though they were bypassed by Jones.

• The agency has taken steps to enhance its oversight and compliance processes. An interim senior vice president, Shannon Linsey, has been appointed following Jones’ charges.

• Jones remains on bond, and sentencing is scheduled for May 5, 2026.

This case highlights significant fraud within a key housing authority function, leading to legal action and changes in leadership to prevent future misconduct.
