What if the Electoral College went rogue?

When the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College as the method for selecting the president, they envisioned an "assembly of wise men and learned elders" who would vote independently and make up their own minds about who should be president and vice president.
Over time, however, the Electoral College has not worked out quite as the founders planned. As political parties grew in influence and gained more control over the electoral process, the Electoral College has acted less as an independent voting body and more as a rubber stamp of what the voters do on Election Day.
Now, according to laws in most states, political parties select electors for their party, and when someone votes for a candidate on Election Day they are essentially voting for the electors from that candidate's party. Thus, if the popular vote in a state chooses the Republican candidate, for example, the Republican party's electors will cast the electoral votes for that state — most likely for the Republican candidate. So we pretty much know who will be president shortly after Election Day and weeks before the Electoral College actually votes on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December.
But does it have to be that way? What if, notwithstanding what the voters did on Election Day, some electors decided that they wanted to act "wise" and "learned" and vote for someone other than their party's candidate? Could we actually have an election where we don't know who will be president until after the Electoral College votes?
The answer to that appears to be a resounding and provocative "yes."

How Wall Street Built The Obama Cabinet

Perhaps the most startling discovery of the WikiLeaks dumps so far didn't come from the most recent emails surrounding the various Hillary scandals, though there are many great ones, but from 2008 when John Podesta served as co-chair of President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team.  The email came from Michael Froman, a former Citibank executive, who single-handedly built the entire cabinet of what was supposed to be the "main street" President.    
The email in question was even sent from Froman's Citibank email address (rookie!) and includes "A list of African American, Latino and Asian American candidates, broken down by Cabinet/Deputy and Under/Assistant/Deputy Assistant level, plus a list of Native American, Arab/Muslim American and Disabled American candidates."
Apparently Obama wasn't as worried about placing women in senior-level positions but Froman decided to offer up some suggestions anyway.

"While you did not ask for this, I prepared and attached a similar document on women."

Froman even went ahead and "scoped out" which people should be appointed to which cabinet positions.

"At the risk of being presumptuous, I also scoped out how the Cabinet-level appointments might be put together, probability-weighting the likelihood of appointing a diverse candidate for each position (given one view of the short list) and coming up with a straw man distribution."

Soros Election Tampering Explodes… Illegally Funneling Cash

Liberal billionaire George Soros is in trouble after a complaint filed with an Arizona county claims that the financier and fundraiser committed campaign finance violations during this election cycle.
According to The Associated Press (via WWET-TV), a campaigner for Maricopa County Attorney filed a complaint with the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office last week, alleging that Soros’ political committee, Arizona Safety & Justice, has violated campaign finance law.
An attorney for Bill Montgomery, the incumbent, filed the motion on Friday after he said that “the law requires political committees making independent expenditures to a candidate or office within 60 days of an election to provide 24 hours’ notice to opponents about submitted print or television ads.”
Montgomery has claimed that his campaign was not notified of his opponents’ ads.
The charges were the latest against Soros, often seen by conservatives as the bogeyman during this campaign cycle.
For instance, Soros’ involvement with a maker of electronic voting machines has many Republicans calling foul or asking for a paper ballot.
Sixteen states — including the swing stats of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia — use voting machines provided by Soros-connected company Smartmatic.

Obama Knew About Clinton's Server; Lied To American People

Hillary Clinton and her close cohorts are not the only ones whose corruption and lies have been revealed by the Podesta e-mails published by WikiLeaks. The e-mails also document that — his protestations to the contrary notwithstanding — President Obama lied to the American people when he claimed that he had been unaware of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private, unsecured e-mail server which she used to conduct official State business, including both sending and receiving classified information.

In a pre-recorded interview aired on CBS on March 8, 2015, the president said he had learned of Clinton’s server “through news reports” and that he learned of it “the same time everybody else” did. Of course, that was not true, since he had exchanged e-mails with Clinton while she was secretary of state and the e-mail address would clearly have been her private address instead of the state.gov address she should have been using.

The day after the interview aired on CBS, the White House tried to walk back the president’s remarks. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked in a press briefing, “We heard from the President in his interview with CBS about this and he said that he first became aware of it in the reports last week. So I’m wondering if, implicit in that, is that the President and Secretary Clinton never emailed one another when Secretary Clinton was serving at the State Department.” He answered by saying:

That may be one conclusion to draw from the President’s remarks, but it would not be an accurate one. The President, as I think many people expected, did over the course of his first several years in office trade emails with his Secretary of State. I would not describe the number of emails as large, but they did have the occasion to email one another. And the point that the President was making is not that he didn’t know Secretary Clinton’s email address — he did — but he was not aware of the details of how that email address and that server had been set up or how Secretary Clinton and her team were planning to comply with the Federal Records Act.

Judicial Watch Releases Former Clinton Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin Deposition Testimony

Judicial Watch today released the deposition transcript of Huma Abedin, former deputy chief of staff to Hillary Clinton throughout her four years as secretary of state and who also had an email account on the clintonemail.com system. The deposition transcript is available here.

Abedin testified it was Clinton’s decision to use her non-state.gov email; to her knowledge that only Hillary Clinton, Abedin and Chelsea Clinton had accounts on the clintonemail.com system; and that the clintonemail.com system may have interfered with Mrs. Clinton’s ability to do her job.

Abedin is among seven depositions of former Clinton top aides and State Department officials that Judicial Watch has questioned under oath.  Under Secretary for Management Patrick F. Kennedy testified today, Wednesday, June 29.

This discovery arises in a Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit that seeks records about the controversial employment status of Huma Abedin, former deputy chief of staff to Clinton.  The lawsuit was reopened because of revelations about the clintonemail.com system. (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:13-cv-01363)).  Judge Sullivan ordered that all deposition transcripts be made publicly available.

AG Lynch Pressured Comey Not to Disclose Reactivated Hillary Probe

Of course she did, you might think to yourself -- as the whole country seems to have become inured to the breathtaking insanity of this entire election cycle. But as Rich Lowry says, none of this is normal. USA Today is reporting that Attorney General Loretta Lynch urged FBI Director James Comey to suppress the fact that the bureau has effectively re-opened its probe into Hillary Clinton's email scandal after new potentially "pertinent" evidence was discovered in the course of a separate investigation into Anthony Weiner's sexting woes. Weiner is married to Clinton's top aide, Huma Abedin. This politically-motivated pressure gives off a strong whiff of, well, rigging:
As a reminder, Loretta Lynch's boss has prominently endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, and put his thumb on the scale of public opinion while the FBI's original investigation was still underway.  She is reportedly under consideration to retain her powerful job under a Clinton presidency.  And she infamously held a secretive tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton during the final stages of the Bureau's criminal probe -- a move so foolish that even many Democrats objected to it. Now, she's apparently attempted to intervene against transparency, covering for Hillary in the home stretch of an election.  She looks like a partisan actor, not a law enforcement officer.  If FBI officials consider her too politically 'tainted' to fulfill her duties in accordance with the law, she should resign.  It's important to reiterate that we don't yet know what the new emails may entail, although the fact that there are thousands of them to review is astonishing.  Might they further prove some sort of criminal intent or cover-up?  Might they contain more classified material?  Might they reveal untruths told to the FBI?  Might they contain nothing of real value?  It's unclear.  Although it seems highly unlikely that Comey would poke this hornet's nest -- of which he seemed so eager to wash his hands -- for no good reason.  Meanwhile, many of the liberals and Democrats who've been solemnly invoking the FBI's controversial "no charges" conclusion since July are suddenly indulging in wild smears and conspiracy theories about Comey and his agency.   Here's just one pathetic example:

Hillary Clinton White House a National Security Risk

When people have secrets, they can be manipulated. Intimidated. Extorted. Blackmailed.

The more we learn about Hillary Clinton, her emails, and the Clinton Foundation, the more we realize she is hiding a lot.

With the recent Anthony Weiner revelation that has encouraged the FBI to reexamine the Clinton email scandal, we must realize that the very fact that Hillary Clinton has so much to hide makes her a national security risk should she attain a new position of power. . . especially if she becomes President of the United States.  Never mind whether or not she can be bought - it turns out she can be blackmailed.

Hillary Clinton couldn’t even pass a basic background check if she wanted to be a janitor in a government building, yet we have voters willing to make the most crooked, corrupt and untrustworthy politician in this country’s history a return resident to the White House.  For the intelligence community, the fact that she has so much to hide, and that it can be used to intimidate the United States and blackmail her, creates an intelligence nightmare.

She had access to highly classified information, and purposely used her private email server (among other things) to sell that information for favors, or future contributions to her and her husband, often in the form of exorbitant speaking fees and donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Understand, this is not just a risk regarding foreign characters.  Evil exists within, as well, and the ability of actors both international and domestic to use her for their own evil and destructive means through blackmail places the United States (should she become President) at a level of risk never seen before in our history.

When CIA and NSA Workers Blow the Whistle, Congress Plays Deaf

DO THE COMMITTEES that oversee the vast U.S. spying apparatus take intelligence community whistleblowers seriously? Do they earnestly investigate reports of waste, fraud, abuse, professional negligence, or crimes against the Constitution reported by employees or contractors working for agencies like the CIA or NSA? For the last 20 years, the answer has been a resounding “no.”

My own experience in 1995-96 is illustrative. Over a two-year period working with my wife, Robin (who was a CIA detailee to a Senate committee at the time), we discovered that, contrary to the public statements by then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Colin Powell and other senior George H. W. Bush administration officials (including CIA Director John Deutch), American troops had in fact been exposed to chemical agents during and after the 1991 war with Saddam Hussein. While the Senate Banking Committee under then-Chairman Don Riegle, D-Mich., was trying to uncover the truth of this, officials at the Pentagon and CIA were working to bury it.

At the CIA, I objected internally — and was immediately placed under investigation by the CIA’s Office of Security. That became clear just days after we delivered the first of our several internal briefings to increasingly senior officials at the CIA and other intelligence agencies. In February 1995, I received a phone call from CIA Security asking whether I’d had any contacts with the media. I had not, but I had mentioned to CIA officials we’d met with that I knew that the CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes” was working on a piece about the Gulf War chemical cover-up. This call would not be the last I’d receive from CIA Security about the matter, nor the only action the agency would take against us.

When Will Liberals Answer for Obamacare's Failures?

These days, there's been a lot of discussion about conservative media's culpability in creating unrealistic expectations and warped priorities among Republican voters. It's a reasonable critique. My question: When are we going to have this conversation about the other side—you know, the one that enabled the passage of a massive partisan health care reform law that's failed to deliver on almost all its promises?

No doubt, you'll remember all those romantic charts and stories from the liberal smart set predicting Obamacare's affordability and success. Remember the jeering aimed at conservatives who argued that state-run markets inhibiting genuine competition and increasing regulations would only spur costs to rise? "Lies," liberals said.

In 2014, the Washington Post's E.J. Dionne asked a valuable question: "Is there any accountability in American politics for being completely wrong?" The answer: Of course not. Not for conservative talkers—and definitely not for liberal pundits who keep modifying the meaning of success.

At the time, Dionne argued that the Affordable Care Act was doing exactly what its supporters had predicted, "getting health insurance to millions who didn't have it before." In reality, that was only one piece of Obamacare's promise, and even that accomplishment has been retroactively simplified to create an impression of unqualified success. Far from it.

Comey's Mess

FBI director James Comey really stepped in it.  He should have known that cleaning up one of Hillary Clinton's messes would be just like wiping that proverbial dog poop off your shoe.  You think you've got it, but there is always some left over in the tread that you track into the house.  The wife yells, and then you're on your hands and knees with the carpet cleaner while your oversized Rottweiler puppy tries to eat the filthy rag.   Welcome to my life...but I digress.

Over a long career, Comey carefully cultivated a reputation for smarts and probity.  Perhaps it was truly earned, more likely the result of basic competence combined with clever politicking and strategic sycophancy.  Either way, it earned him his current job and, as standing in D.C. goes, an enviable combination of power and respect on both sides of the aisle.

Comey was no stranger to Hillary's machinations.  He was part of the team that investigated Whitewater only to recommend that no charges be filed.  Confronted with Hillary Clinton's email corruption, Comey tried to be too clever by half.  He accompanied his legally and bureaucratically inappropriate exoneration of Clinton in July with a public tongue-lashing intended to preserve his Boy Scout image while letting Clinton, himself, and his agency off a sharp political hook.  He rather spectacularly failed.

FBI agents refused orders to destroy laptops and they still exist

Joseph DiGenova, a former US Attorney and Washington, DC superlawyer is no flake. He has plenty of contacts within the FBI and a reputation to protect. So I take his words on Sirius/XM’s David Webb show quire seriously, as reported by Kerry Picket of the Daily Caller:

Washington D.C. attorney Joe DiGenova said on The David Webb Show on SiriusXM Friday night that despite the FBI agreeing to destroy the laptops of Clinton aide Cheryl Mills and ex-campaign staffer Heather Samuelson as part of immunity deals made during the initial investigation of Clinton’s email server, agents involved in the case refused to destroy the laptops.
“According to the agreement reached with the attorneys who handed over their laptops, the laptops were to be destroyed per the agreement after the testimony was given –the interviews were given – – by the attorneys. The bureau and the department agreed to that,” DiGenova said. “However the laptops contrary to published reports were not destroyed and the reason is the agents who are tasked with destroying them refused to do so. And by the way the laptops are at the FBI for inspection by Congress or federal courts.”
DiGenova said the laptops have already been subpoenaed and the FBI is waiting for Congress to ask for them.

If this is true, it indicates that a serious rebellion was underway in the FBI, with agents refusing a direct order.  Although I am no lawyer, I suppose they might have regarded the order as illegitimate, part of a conspiracy to destroy evidence. It is possible that Comey knew of this rebellion, and that this knowledge shaped his decision to write to Congressional leaders on the resumption of the investigation.
Now that DiGenova has gone public, how long until the laptops are subpoenaed?

Clinton aide Huma Abedin has told people she doesn’t know how her emails wound up on her husband’s computer

Top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin has told people she is unsure how her emails could have ended up on a device she viewed as her husband’s computer, the seizure of which has reignited the Clinton email investigation, according to a person familiar with the investigation and civil litigation over the matter.
The person, who would not discuss the case unless granted anonymity, said Abedin was not a regular user of the computer, and even when she agreed to turn over emails to the State Department for federal records purposes, her lawyers did not search it for materials, not believing any of her messages to be there.
That could be a significant oversight if Abedin’s work messages were indeed on the computer of her estranged husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner, who is under investigation for allegedly exchanging lewd messages with a 15-year-old girl. So far, it is unclear what — if any — new, work-related messages were found by authorities. The person said the FBI had not contacted Abedin about its latest discovery, and she was unsure what the bureau had discovered.
According to federal law enforcement officials, investigators found thousands of messages on Weiner’s computer that they believe to be potentially relevant to the separate, Clinton email investigation. How they are relevant — or if they are significant in any respect — remains unknown.

When asked what kind of justices she would appoint the words "fidelity to the constitution" never left her mouth. She would appoint justices based on their views of progressive policies.  That is both dangerous and unconstitutional.  She would further skew the court in the direction of decisions always favorable to socialistic progressive ideals.  That would be the beginnings of the death of our nation.  Quote: "How come? Because as Clinton said in the third presidential debate, "The Supreme Court should represent all of us. ... And the kind of people that I would be looking to nominate to the court would be in the great tradition of standing up to the powerful, standing up on behalf of our rights as Americans." It sounds delightful, as far as rhetoric goes -- which isn't far. The Supreme Court's mission is assessing, weighing, (SET ITAL) judging (END ITAL) -- according to constitutional, as opposed to political, standards -- the claims of competing parties.  It's a different matter entirely from "representing," as Mrs. Clinton puts it, the views of constituents -- a function that belongs to the legislative and the executive branches of government. The court's constituency is everybody: the strongest, the weakest and all in between. Did the lady really graduate from Yale Law School with so little knowledge of the judiciary's role in democratic government?
