Greg’s Newsletter 2/21/2012

Greg Goodwin

Folks, I haven’t put a newsletter out in a while because I was researching economic history and other things for a presentation I gave last week. I understand that economics isn’t glamorous, sexy, or American Idolish, and can even be boring but I think as time goes on, everyone of you realize that the economics are affecting you everyday of your lives and of late those effects have not been good, like gas prices, mortgage issues and many other things relating to the economics of our nation and our individual well being.

The reason I am saying these things, for going on 7 years this year, I have been trying to get my readers to understand the complexities of economics in down to earth terms. Now more than ever, you and everyone else need to understand what is happening not only to you but to this wonderful nation of ours. Not to scare people but for people to understand the economics and the political pressure that has been and still is happening which has caused us to be where we are today. This is so we can be informed to put pressure on our elected representatives to stop working for the PAC monies and all the other monetary ways legislation is influenced and work for the American people. Some of you will probably disagree with me but neither party is working for you, they work for the influences that fills their pockets.

Of course they sound like they work for you but listen to this one about Obama stating he is going to stop the practices the big banks have been doing which caused the housing market collapse but what is more important what Professor William Black has to say not only about Obama but the political system itself past and present:

Professor William Black was a regulator back during the Savings and Loan Crisis and he explains other responsibilities he had during that time including many appearances before Congressional hearings investigating the S&L Crisis. He is publicly speaking out about what is currently happening with the national banking system and how the government is not correcting the issues which brought us to this point. Look him up on You Tube to see and hear the other things he is saying.

Economics may be all those things I said above but understanding them will make us all more informed to make decisions on who we pick for not so much as leaders but as representatives for the American people, as the Constitution states our elected representatives should be. The government and the media has been and will continue to try to do everything to divert your attention away from the true economic problems facing our country, through things like every “ism” they can come up with, like racism, liberalism, conservatism, environmentalism, and the list goes on but understand the most important point, with an economy which we cannot live how the Constitution states and the free enterprise system which has brought us to being the greatest nation in world history, we will cease being the greatest nation in world history.

If you think I’m totally wrong on these economic issues, you may be experiencing something which is called “cognitive dissonance” which is a mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information. When confronted with challenging new information, most people seek to preserve their current understanding of the world by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding the new information or by convincing themselves that no conflict really exists.
