In a long list of political sex scandals, US Rep. Anthony Weiner is not the first nor will he be the last. Others such scandals involve, Pres. Bill Clinton and members of Congress such as, Elliot Spitzer, Bob Barr, Strom Thurmond, Clarence Thomas, Mark Foley and who could forget Larry Craig and his bathroom antics. This has nothing to do with being a Democrat or a Republican, this goes to what's in the heart of a man. Do they have courage, convictions, compassion and moral values. It would seem that the standards for our elected officials is not that high. With all the technology that's available today, it is harder to hide your public and private life. Do we have to accept this type of behavior in our elected officials. The old saying goes, that all politician talk out of both sides of their mouth at the same time, is this what we've come to expect. I hope not. We do not need politicians that will tell us what we want to hear just to get elected or reelected. They need to make the hard choices and do what is right for their constituents, sometimes going against what is popular but is right. With all that is going on in the world, we need leaders more than ever, but ones that we can trust. There are no easy answers to our problems, we need both men and women to step up to the plate and help America get back on the right track.
