Miscellaneous Examples of Misplaced Priorities

Here are a few random items that receive little if any attention much less any attempt at rigorous investigative efforts by the mainstream media.

1.  While news about gun legislation and the President's budget proposal fill the airwaves little, if any, attention is given to an event taking place in a Philadelphia courtroom.  The linked blog item provides an interesting perspective on the matter and offers reasons why it has not found its way into mainstream media channels.  It starts out with a brief reminder of the media hype that accompanied murders conducted by serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Richard Speck.  It then moves to the ongoing murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell who until his arrest in 2011 ran an abortion clinic.  To quote the author:  "Although Gosnell was charged with eight counts of murder, witnesses have testified he murdered over 100 babies over three decades. If true, this would rank Gosnell as one of the top five known serial killers worldwide of the 20th and 21st Centuries by victim count."  What is especially gruesome is that the victims in this case were after-birth killings.  One mother died following her abortion.  It is interesting that the President shed tears following the Sandy Hook massacre (gun violence you know) but has failed to even mention the Gosnell situation (killings by abortion apparently don't rise to the level of murder by guns).  The author's reasons why the mainstream media is absent from duty are right on.  Skip over the listings to reach the article.  https://newsbusters.org/blogs/jill-stanek/2013/04/11/four-reasons-why-media-isnt-covering-gosnell-mass-murder-trial#main-content And for more gory details go here:  http://articles.philly.com/2013-04-12/news/38494337_1_gosnell-employee-tina-baldwin-abortions

2.  Federal officials warned that one of the fall-outs of sequester would be the furlough of meat inspectors leading to possible outbreaks of Salmonella  and E. coli as well as millions of dollars in economic losses.  Meanwhile the administration is hard at work pursuing "a 'partnership' with the Mexican government to 'raise awareness' about food stamps among immigrants from that country."  Increasing the costs of administering and executing an expanded food stamp program for Mexican immigrants is, apparently, not affected by sequester but food inspectors for American taxpayers/consumers is.  Get it?  Another example of how well the government is looking out for you, the happy taxpayer.  The article ends on this note:  "Meanwhile, the USDA continues to press forward with plans to furlough meat inspectors, describing it as a necessity of the sequester -- though the department has eased off a bit on warnings that this could lead to more foodborne illness, since all meat and poultry will still have to be inspected." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/03/18/dems-preserve-us-mexico-food-stamp-partnership-while-usda-prepares-for-meat/

3.  Before and after each election we hear all kinds of things about electoral misconduct.  Voter fraud and gerrymandering are two that rise to the top of debate. The current Justice Department pays little attention to voter fraud issues because to do so would highlight that a goodly percentage of such behavior falls to the Democrat side of the ledger.  They do not want to go there so they don't.  By the way, I by no means absolve Republicans who engage in similar tactics.  This item, however, deals with gerrymandering.  Take note of this quote from the next link. "While Democrats have attacked Republicans for allegedly gerrymandering their way to a congressional majority in 2012, evidence suggests that Democrats may have behaved in precisely the same way. The Washington Free Beacon obtained records this Friday of emails sent between Democratic party officials suggesting that Florida had been deliberately gerrymandered along racial lines to maximize the chance of Democratic success in the state, possibly even with the approval of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz."  Likewise, consider this quote:  "Florida’s legislative leaders appear to have authorized their staff to use private email accounts, personal “dropboxes” and to engage in “brainstorming meetings” with Republican Party of Florida consultants in attempting to draw favorable political districts, despite a constitutional ban on such coordination.[...]"  Now tell me that our elected "public" officials and election oversight officials are all about honesty and integrity in government and its electoral process.  Such is the state of our "entire" political system.  It is long overdue a total overhaul.  Why hasn't the media made this a priority for investigation in support of the public interest?  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/07/revealed-alleged-democratic-scheme-to-gerrymander-florida/

5.  And this one will make you want to scream even louder.  My observation?  What self-righteous hypocrisy resides within the bowels of the progressive movie making industry - routinely rewriting history so that it fits within their secular/humanist world view.  Most of us would call this behavior pure propaganda.  http://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2013/04/07/the-4-most-outrageous-lies-in-robert-redfords-new-pro-terrorist-movie/?singlepage=true
