The protest is part of an attempt to foment communist revolution in the U.S., using college campuses as a focal point, with an alliance of terrorist supporting communists and Islamists.

GWU had cleared the 'occupy' protest at U-Yard several days ago and was allowing only about twenty protesters to remain.

D.C. allowed the protesters to take over a city street in front of the campus area for the weekend.

Like magic, dozens of tents looking just the ones at other campus protests sprung up on H Street.

GWU had sent out a statement to alumni Sunday night explaining their handling of the protest: Late Sunday night, campus police officers were prevented by the protesters from arresting one of the activists.

A serious implosion in commercial real estate would certainly bleed into the banking sector, beginning a chain reaction.

The FDIC determined that compared to other alternatives, Fulton Bank's acquisition of Republic Bank is the least costly resolution for the DIF, an insurance fund created by Congress in 1933 and managed by the FDIC to protect the deposits at the nation's banks.

Republic Bank is the first U.S. bank failure this year; the last failure was Citizens Bank, Sac City, Iowa on November 3, 2023.

Joe Biden's Brother Embroiled In High-Ranking Qatari Scheme To "Provide Wealth Of Introductions" Through "My Family"

 While we knew about the EU's 'Qatargate,' investments with the Kushner family, and of course Sen. Bob Menendez advancing Qatar's interests, Politico reports that the Biden family's ties to Qatar "Would constitute some of the closest known financial links between a relative of President Joe Biden and a foreign government," if courtroom testimony about Jim Biden's foreign fundraising efforts is substantiated.

"My family could provide a wealth of introductions and business opportunities at the highest levels that I believe would be worthy of the interest of His Excellency," Jim Biden and Rustom wrote in a draft letter to an official at the Qatari sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority.

In February of this year, Jim Biden told impeachment inquiry investigators that roughly $600,000 in payments from Americore were for his role in arranging a series of bridge loans - of which $200,000 was transferred to Joe Biden in March 2018 for what the White House claims is a repayment of an unrelated loan between brothers.

In order to solve their problem, Jim Biden explored working with payment processing company "Billerfy," described as an "Open network for global payments," for which Jim Biden could be their "Chief global banking emissary" - until Americore's outside counsel, Christopher Anderson, shot it down.

With progress in Qatar slowing in mid-May of 2018 during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, tensions grew between Jim Biden and his comrades - with Jim Biden venting to Americore CEO Grant White in a May 17 email that he had "Agreed to go to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and China."

The former Americore executive said that Jim Biden and Lewitt traveled to Qatar in mid-2018 as part of the fundraising efforts, but it is not clear whether any meeting between Jim Biden and Qatar's then-finance minister, Ali Sharif Al Emadi, took place.

While Biden testified that this was a forgiven loan, Lewitt disputed it - telling Politico that Jim Biden's debt was assumed by an unnamed third party.

Congressional Inaction On Debt 'Irresponsible, Inequitable, And Immoral' Says Former Comptroller

The former U.S. Comptroller General said Congress' failure to address the federal debt burden was "Irresponsible."

David Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States and a member of the Main Street Economics Advisory Board, said recent economic data should prompt lawmakers to take action before the debt problem gets worse.

Walker said the reports won't make reducing unsustainable growth in federal debt any easier.

"It's time for Washington to stop the rhetoric, get to work on resolving the national debt, and show the voters some results," he said.

The International Monetary Fund warned the United States that government spending and increasing national debt are not sustainable and could hurt the global economy.

"Amid mounting debt, now is the time to bring back sustainable public finances," according to the latest IMF Fiscal Monitor report.

The debt warning follows several other high-profile calls to address growing U.S. debt.

Electric battery commuter bus services abruptly suspended in Antelope Valley

Electric battery bus service in the Antelope Valley was abruptly suspended this week, causing a transit nightmare for commuters looking to get to work, school, doctors' appointments and more.

All transportation services using the Antelope Valley Transit Authority's fleet of MCI D45 battery-electric commuter coaches were halted on Tuesday "Out of an abundance of caution and for reasons outside of AVTA's control," officials stated.

A Shockingly Inept Report From The IEA On Battery Storage Of Energy

In a field rife with bad, worse, still worse, and even dangerously incompetent work, I don't know if I've ever seen anything as shockingly inept as the Report just out from the International Energy Agency with the title "Batteries and Secure Energy Transitions." The Report has a date only specified to the month of "April 2024," but the press release came out just two days ago on April 25.

Are you familiar with the International Energy Agency? It is not part of the UN, but rather a separate consortium currently of some 40 countries, mostly Western and mostly rich, founded in the wake of the oil shocks of the 1970s with a then-goal of promoting energy security.

The thesis of the Report is that batteries, and particularly lithium ion batteries, are the key to the impending energy transition, and need to be scaled up massively and immediately with whatever amount of government subsidies and handouts that it takes.

Those include: Quantitatively, how much energy storage, in watt-hours will be necessary to provide full back-up to a national electricity grid once all fossil fuel back-up has been banished and the storage is all that is available when the instantaneous generators are not supplying the full demand? How much will that amount of storage cost? What is the maximum length of time that energy must be held in storage before it is called upon, and is the proposed storage technology capable of the task of storing energy for that period of time? There are other comparably important questions, but at least those are absolutely essential.

Battery storage in the power sector was the fastest growing energy technology in 2023 that was commercially available, with deployment more than doubling year-on-year.

In my own energy storage report, I calculated that to reach a zero-emissions electricity sector that could get through a year without fossil fuel back-up would require increasing energy storage by something around 10,000 times.

How about the question of the length of time that energy must remain in storage to back-up a wind/solar powered grid, and whether the proposed technology is up to the task? In my own report, which only considered scenarios of getting through a single year, I showed that much of the stored energy would need to be held for 6 - 12 months before use.

For even longer duration storage, such as seasonal storage, battery technologies are not fit for purpose, and other mechanical, e.g. pumped storage hydro, and chemical, e.g. hydrogen storage, technologies need to be deployed.

ICE Immigration-Enforcement Officers Thumb Noses At HSI 'Rebrand'

 Immigration officers in the agency's Enforcement and Removal Operations branch don't have that option - immigration enforcement is all ERO does - and instead are, in my estimation, thumbing their noses at their newly cleansed and liberated comrades, with the ERO head vowing not to "Be swayed by political theater or media rhetoric".

In 2018, 19 HSI special agents in charge sent an undated letter to then-DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, asking her "To restructure ICE into the two separate, independent entities of HSI and ERO".

The current acting ICE director was among the SACs who signed that letter, as "P.J. Lechleitner", but he did not - and could not - restructure the agency as he and the other SACs requested when he took acting command of the agency in June 2023, nor did he immediately initiate an HSI rebranding.

The plain implication is that HSI leadership and Lechleitner are hamming it up in said political theater and are kowtowing to those who denigrate immigration enforcement.

More limited operations involving the deportation of criminal aliens and of at least some of the million-plus aliens who've had their day in court but remain here under final orders of removal are likely at some point in the immediate future, and the only agency in the federal government that can execute such operations is ICE. That would mean that not only Bible's embattled officers but also Lechleitner's rebranded HSI agents would have to get their hands dirty doing the surveillance, arrests, detentions, and removals that the latter apparently believe to be below their station and dignity.

Trained agents are always in high demand, so if any or all of the ones in HSI don't like the "Immigration" part of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, they can easily go elsewhere, and should.

If ICE resources are so scarce, they should be expended on the agency's mission - deporting removable aliens, which a majority of Americans want - and not on "Political theater" like HSI rebranding.

Why Chinese Nationals Are Crossing Southern Border

Chinese nationals are crossing America's southern border at a rapid rate.

On Wednesday alone, the U.S. Border Patrol encountered 206 Chinese nationals crossing into the San Diego sector, Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported.

In January, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported over 3,700 encounters with Chinese nationals on the southern border, nearly all in the San Diego sector.

Back up to January 2021, when Joe Biden became president, and CBP encountered only 17 Chinese nationals at the southern border.

To find out why so many Chinese nationals are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in the San Diego sector, The Daily Signal spoke to Scott as well as to Derek Maltz, a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and to Michael Cunningham, a research fellow in The Heritage Foundation's Asian Studies Center.

The former Border Patrol chief pointed to reports that Chinese nationals are "Systematically coming into the United States and buying property, buying foreign property, buying property near military bases," as evidence that they are crossing the border intentionally.

Although illegal immigrants could achieve some cultural and economic influence on America, Cunningham said, it's unlikely that significant numbers of Chinese nationals cross the southern border with the intent of spying on the U.S. Legal ways to enter the U.S., he said, provide greater opportunity for Chinese spies to access sensitive U.S. data than an illegal alien could get at.

Majority Of Voters Back Border Wall, Stiff Immigration Controls

 When it comes to immigration, one thing is clear: Americans overwhelmingly favor building a border wall and strongly enforcing existing immigration laws, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.

"Since President Biden took office in 2021, immigration rules have been loosened, allowing for the entry of 5 million undocumented immigrants from around the world, according to the government's own count. How would you address the immigration issue?".

That was No. 2, chosen by 42%. No. 1, which similarly called for a crackdown on border crossings and a border wall but didn't include deportation as a possibility, garnered 16% of all responses.

That's a 58% majority favoring at minimum a wall and more border enforcement, and a plurality of 42% favoring deportations to go along with the increased border controls.

Democrats were more likely than Republicans to choose the two least-restrictive options: the "Open border" option No. 4, and the "Tighten somewhat, but no deportations" option No. 3, for a slim total Democrat majority of 51%. Republicans went big for the more-restrictive options, No. 1 and especially No. 2, for a total of 86%. A majority of independents also selected the restrictive responses No. 1 and No. 2, for a total of 53% of independents.

What does this all mean? When you dig in, you see that a solid majority of likely voters are eager to limit illegal immigration across our now-porous borders, and that a plurality want those here illegally to be deported.

Under Fire Fani Willis Mysteriously SKIPS Fulton County DA Debate Leaving Challenger Awkwardly Talking To An Empty Podium

Scandal-plagued Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was nowhere to be seen Sunday during the first Democrat Party debate as she tries to win re-election.

Willis has courted controversy while prosecuting the county's election interference case against Donald Trump as it was revealed she had a past relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

'When you pay one attorney nearly $1million to handle one case, that leaves the rest of us vulnerable, that hurts everyone in Fulton County.

Wade fronted the team of lawyers Willis assembled to prosecute the case since the previous president and 18 others were indicted in August, but their relationship led to concerns the couple could pursue financial gain through the proceedings.

Anthony Michael Kreis, a Georgia State University law professor who's been following the case, criticized her comments in a post on X. 'If I were Fani Willis, I would simply not talk to the media at all at this point just out of an abundance of caution,' Kreis said.

In a 23-page ruling Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee slammed Willis for a 'tremendous lapse in judgment' and for acting in an 'unprofessional manner' but said she could stay on the case if Wade stepped down.

Trump's lawyers slammed the decision to let Willis stay on the case and said they would pursue 'all legal options' in response.

Justice Thomas Raises Scrutiny On Special Counsel Jack Smith's Appointment In Trump Hearing

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has asked former President Donald Trump's lawyers about whether they challenged special counsel Jack Smith's authority to bring charges against the president.

During the hearing, Justice Thomas asked John Sauer, the attorney who represented President Trump in court, "Did you, in this litigation, challenge the appointment of special counsel?" Mr. Smith was appointed to the case by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing President Trump's immunity case as part of Mr. Smith's indictment of the former president alleging an attempt to subvert the transfer of presidential power following the 2020 election.

President Trump is charged with four criminal counts in the case.

President Trump had requested that the lower courts back his claims of presidential immunity, as the actions were undertaken while he was serving as president.

After the lower courts refused to grant the request, the 45th president appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, contending that his actions as president are covered by presidential immunity.

The Supreme Court justices appeared skeptical about President Trump's claims that he has the right to absolute immunity for his actions as president.

Justice Kavanaugh Warns Of Vicious Cycle Of Malicious Prosecutions That Could End Presidency

During Thursday's deliberations at the U.S. Supreme Court on former President Donald Trump's immunity claim, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh warned that a decision in the case has future implications for whether future presidents are shielded from vicious cycles of malicious prosecution that could effectively end the presidency as we know it.

Justice Kavanaugh said that when presidents are subject to prosecution, history shows that it's not going to stop.

"It's going to cycle back and be used against the current president or the next president ... and the next president and the next president after that."

Justice Neil Gorsuch, who said that the court is "Writing a rule for the ages," along with Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Kavanaugh all said that their concern was not so much the case against President Trump, but rather the effect of the ruling on future presidencies.

Justice Kavanaugh expressed concern about the future implications of the case, warning of the prospect of a vicious cycle of malicious prosecutions that could hamper presidents for years to come.

Justice Kavanaugh argued that the Reagan, Bush, and Clinton presidencies were all "Hampered" by investigations, while suggesting that holding a president accountable is less important than protecting the functioning of the presidency.

He argued that when former presidents are subjected to prosecution, this risks triggering a vicious cycle of vindictive prosecutions.

The bill "Calls for the Secretary of State to establish oversight measures to ensure that the aid is not diverted by Hamas," but really, what can he possibly do short of establishing an American military presence in Gaza? Hamas controls Gaza.

There is no force in Gaza that is strong enough to stand up to Hamas.

So provisos written into legislation drafted and passed in faraway Washington, D.C. is one thing, but the reality on the ground in Gaza is something else altogether, and the Biden regime must know that.

Morton Klein, President of the Zionist Organization of America, stated it plainly: "Biden and this administration knows that almost all of it," that is, the aid, "Is stolen by Hamas." Among the documents unsealed were extensive exhibits, motions, and other filings shedding light on the intricate web of communication between the Biden White House and the National Archives and Records Administration in the lead-up to Trump's indictment.

The first things is testimony from an FBI agent who testified that the General Services Association had been in possession of Trump's boxes in Virginia before ordering Trump's team to come get them.

This development is significant because Trump has previously blamed the GSA for packing the boxes that contained the classified documents, only to later accuse Trump of essentially stealing them and using that as pretext for sending the FBI to raid his Mar-a-Lago home in August 2022.

Joe Biden had classified information that he was never entitled to have stored in boxes in his garage for years, but was not charged.

While this may not prove the Biden administration set up Trump in the classified documents case, considering the way the Biden administration has abused the legal system against Trump, no one can confidently say they wouldn't.

If the GSA had been in possession of the boxes, why wasn't a review of the materials conducted before they instructed Trump's team to get them? When it comes to classified information, they wouldn't have expected Trump and his staff to be responsible for ensuring that classified documents weren't among the records.

Maria Bartiromo Questions Jim Jordan About 'Congressional Investigations That Go Nowhere'

Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo on Sunday pressed House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan on the lack of headway in House Republicans' investigations into President Biden and other political figures.

Bartiromo and Jordan were discussing the Judiciary Committee's latest report that alleges the New York County District Attorney's Office's hush money probe into former President Trump is "Political prosecution."

"Well, look, I mean, at this point, American citizens are asking, what can you do about it? I mean, look, with all due respect, people are sick and tired of congressional investigations that go nowhere. People are sick and tired of letters being written and sent to the people who we know are bad in the first place," Bartiromo said Sunday on Fox News's "Sunday Morning Futures."

Jordan lamented his frustrations about the former president's other legal battles in Washington, D.C., for his federal election interference case, and in Georgia, where he's accused of participating in a scheme to overturn the state's 2020 election results.

"Well, we have passed legislation out of the committee that would help remedy this situation, particularly the one in New York, but the president or vice president can move a case to federal - to federal court from when you do these state prosecutors who are going after someone for a political reason," Jordan responded.

House Republicans on the Judiciary and Oversight committees have struggled in recent weeks to close their impeachment probe into Biden and are facing rising doubts from their own party about whether investigators discovered any wrongdoing.

The House GOP's formal impeachment inquiry was intended to add legal weight to their claims, which center on allegations Biden was involved with his son, Hunter Biden's, foreign business deals.

California Lawmaker Introduces Bill Banning Excessive Homework

A lawmaker in California introduced a bill that would ban teachers from being able to assign students an excessive amount of homework.

California State Assembly member Pilar Schiavo introduced The Healthy Homework Act, also known as AB 2999, in February, noting in an interview with Fox40 that it would have a "Huge impact" on the students.

Under AB 2999, educational agencies, local school board officials, and school administration officials would need to "Develop, adopt, and update" homework policies "At least once every five years," and take into account research available regarding the impacts of homework on students' physical and mental health.

Educational agencies, school board, and school administration officials would also need to take into account the reasonable amount of time that students should spend on homework and take into account learning disabilities and how some students might lack "Access to the internet, computers, and learning tools."

The Healthy Homework Act Advances! With local control and input from teachers, students, and parents, #AB2999 aims to create supportive, equitable homework policies for our kids' mental and physical health.

One of the downfalls of homework can also be associated with the lack of resources available to students at home.

The survey found that 45 percent of students said homework was their number one source of stress.

Green Party's Stein Arrested at Campus Pro-Palestinian Protest

 Police arrested Green Party candidate Jill Stein on Saturday during a Gaza war protest at Washington University in St. Louis.

"Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, campaign manager Jason Call, and deputy campaign manager Kelly Merrill-Cayer were arrested alongside approximately 100 others - mostly Washington University students - at an encampment set up on Saturday on the university grounds," Stein's campaign tweeted.

"The demand from the encampment was specifically for the university to divest from Boeing, which manufactures munitions used in the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza at their nearby St. Charles [Missouri] facility. The Stein campaign supports the demands of the students and their peaceful protest and assembly on campus. Student protest for peace and civil liberties has always represented the best part of our collective moral conscience. Solidarity." According to the university, the protest had the "Potential" to become dangerous.

Subsequently, the college decided to arrest "100 individuals who refused to leave after being asked multiple times." "This number includes 23 WashU students and 4 university employees. All face charges of trespassing and some may also be charged with resisting arrest and assault, including for injuries to three police officers who sustained injuries including a severe concussion, a broken finger, and a groin injury."We are firmly committed to free expression and allow ample opportunity for voices to be heard on our campus," the college statement read. "However, we expect everyone to respect our policies and we will take swift action to enforce them to their fullest extent.

" Stein and other protesters were released at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, The Hill reported.

Philadelphia-Based Republic First Bank Collapses In First Bank Failure Of 2024

The troubled Philadelphia-based Republic First Bank has imploded, with federal regulators seizing it and arranging for it to be taken over by fellow regional lender Fulton Financial, in the first bank failure of 2024.

To protect people with savings at Republic Bank, the FDIC entered into an agreement with Fulton Financial to assume the deposits and assets of the failed bank.

"This evening and over the weekend, depositors of Republic Bank can access their money by writing checks or using ATM or debit cards. Checks drawn on Republic Bank will continue to be processed and loan customers should continue to make their payments as usual," the FDIC said in a statement.

People with savings at Republic Bank don't need to change their banking relationship to continue to have their money covered by the FDIC's deposit insurance guarantee.

Republic's collapse was the first bank failure of 2024; the previous collapse was Citizens Bank, in Sac City, Iowa, on Nov. 3, 2023.

It's also the fourth high-profile bank failure since spring 2023, when a series of bank failures set off a months-long crisis.

By comparison, the Philadelphia-based Republic First Bank had just $6 billion in assets, making its failure less worrisome for regulators.

Freight Train Derails at New Mexico-Arizona State Line Resulting in Massive Fire

 A freight train at the New Mexico-Arizona state line caught fire on Friday after derailing.

The I-40 highway next to the fire was closed in both directions, affecting trucks that use that route for the transportation of goods.

According to the New Mexico State Police, they told CBS that the fire was still burning on Saturday morning.

Early footage of the wreckage and fire were from drivers who were passing by.

Fire crews were also using air monitoring and other logistics to help monitor the fire.

For some of the young college students arrested after trespassing at Columbia University last week, it was not their first brush with the law.

According to new polling from Harvard University, they aren't even the priorities of most young people, most of whom are Democrats.

If someone goes online or to a college campus such as Columbia, one would think the most pressing issues for voters were the war in Gaza, climate change, and student debt.

According to the latest Harvard poll, out of 16 issues presented to respondents between the ages of 18 and 29, these three rank 12th, 15th, and 16th. Just as in the rest of the nation, "Inflation" was the No. 1 issue on most young minds, followed by "Healthcare" and "Housing."

It has become the most important issue for older voters but ranks 11th out of 16 among the young.

Neither young nor old voters place a high priority on the issues that activists raise hell about and insist are important to the base of the Democratic Party.

A 'Nature' report published in mid-November called the "Association between vitamin D supplementation and COVID-19 infection and mortality" is cause for concern for lockdown proponents.

Several studies have shown that Vitamin D deficiency is associated with increases the risk of infection with COVID-19.

In the population of US veterans, we show that Vitamin D2 and D3 fills were associated with reductions in COVID-19 infection of 28% and 20%, respectively ), D2 HR = 0.72, ]. Mortality within 30-days of COVID-19 infection was similarly 33% lower with Vitamin D3 and 25% lower with D2. We also find that after controlling for vitamin D blood levels, veterans receiving higher dosages of Vitamin D obtained greater benefits from supplementation than veterans receiving lower dosages.

Veterans with Vitamin D blood levels between 0 and 19 ng/ml exhibited the largest decrease in COVID-19 infection following supplementation.

The statistical analysis showed that "Vitamin D3 supplementation was associated with a 33% lower risk of COVID-19 infection ending in mortality within 30 days," the study noted.

Vitamin D supplements may have been helpful not only for treatment and prevention of Covid-19 treatment, but a host of other chronic illnesses.

"Experts have for months been calling for officials to look into the immune system-boosting nutrient's effect on Covid-19 patients after a mountain of research showed a link to vitamin D deficiency," the report added.

"Mr Hancock told the House of Commons last week he had green-lit a Government-funded 'trial' investigating vitamin D and that it did not 'appear to have any impact'." In 2020 there were data that showed strong correlations between Vitamin D and Covid outcomes.

The Republican establishment doesn't know it yet, but last weekend was a watershed moment for their party.

In The Peter Navarro Case, Executive Privilege Is On Trial

 Does Congress have the power to compel presidents and their advisors to disregard executive privilege and force testimony before its committees? That's just one of the substantial constitutional questions raised in United States v. Peter K. Navarro; the Supreme Court gets its first look at the case on April 26.

If the high court does not "Settle good law" in this case and Navarro's conviction is upheld, the doctrine of executive privilege will be irreparably harmed and an important pillar of our system of government's separation of powers will crumble.

Besides the core issue of whether Congress had the legal authority to subpoena him in the first place, other substantial questions related to the privilege include: whether the sitting president can strip a former president of the privilege; what it takes to invoke the privilege on behalf of a former president; and whether a defendant who in good faith mistakenly believes the privilege applies can present evidence of that good-faith belief to the jury to negate the willfulness element of the offense.

The question of whether a sitting president can strip a former president and his advisors of the protections of executive privilege - something President Joe Biden has tried to do with both Trump and Navarro - has never been squarely addressed by the Supreme Court.

Two years ago, when the court declined to answer the question on an expedited basis in Trump v. Thompson, Justice Brett Kavanaugh noted, "A former president must be able to successfully invoke the Presidential communications privilege for communications that occurred during his presidency, even if the current president does not support the privilege claim." Navarro's appeal of his conviction puts this question squarely before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and it cries out for good settled law either from that court or, failing that, the Supreme Court.

In ruling against Navarro on this point, the trial judge relied on a 63-year-old appellate court ruling, which in turn relied on a 1929 Supreme Court decision that was repudiated by the Supreme Court decades ago.

Far more importantly - and Navarro would agree - it's time for the Supreme Court to begin settling "Good law" that will preserve the doctrine of executive privilege and ensure the separation of powers.

District Attorney Mark F. Pomerantz’s self-serving book, People vs. Trump: An Insider’s

Account, 2 since at least 2018, the DANY has weaponized the criminal justice system, scouring

every aspect of President Trump’s personal life and business affairs, going back decades, in the

hopes of finding some legal basis—however far-fetched, novel, or convoluted—to bring charges

against him. When one legal theory would not pan out, instead of discontinuing its politically

motivated investigation, the DANY simply pivoted to a new theory, constantly searching for a

What Are Interest Costs On The National Debt?

In 2023, the federal government spent $658 billion on net interest costs on the national debt.

Interest costs are on track to become the largest category of spending in the federal budget - but what comprises the government's net outlays on interest, and what affects the size of such costs?

In the late 1970s, the increasing national debt and higher interest rates led to a boost in interest costs, which reached a historic high of 3.2 percent of GDP in 1991.

Due to the recent rise in interest rates, as well as the mounting public debt, interest payments have grown rapidly over the past two years, and they are projected to continue growing.

Net interest costs include the interest paid by the government minus the interest and investment income it receives.

For the most part, the interest category corresponds to interest paid on debt held by the public; while the government also issues debt to trust funds and other government accounts, interest payments to those entities are intragovernmental transactions and so have no net effect on the overall budget.

Gross interest outlays mostly reflect payments on debt held by the public as well as intragovernmental payments on debt held by government accounts, primarily the trust funds for Social Security and pensions for retired military and civilian federal workers.

The government's interest costs are mainly determined by the interest rates on U.S. Treasury securities and the amount of debt held by the public.

The size of the public debt also influences the government's net interest costs.

Rising interest rates and growing national debt cause federal interest costs to rise.

Interest costs, in turn, contribute to the growth of federal spending - continuing a vicious cycle of borrowing, interest, and higher debt.

Associated Press Admits Bogus Charges Against Trump 2020 Alternative Electors Are ‘Part of a Campaign to Deter’ Republicans in 2024

The Gateway Pundit reported that the still questionably elected Kris Mayes announced felony charges against 18 Trump allies and alternative electors on Wednesday afternoon for the non-crime of questioning the 2020 election.

Mayes recently said the quiet part out loud late last month, declaring, "We absolutely have to get President Biden reelected," before announcing the indictment by an Arizona grand jury in the latest election interference lawfare.

Even the election officials in Maricopa County, which accounts for roughly 60% of Arizona's voters, knew the election was rigged with dead voters, ballot harvesting, and shady machine software and admitted that the County's in-house audit of the 2020 election was "Bulsh*t." Former Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Chucri previously stated that his colleagues lied because they were too scared to do a real audit in conversations while the Arizona 2020 election audit was ongoing.

The AP article also cites David Becker, the far-left operative who founded the Soros-funded ERIC system, and Justin Levitt of the Brennan Center, one of the organizations that petitioned the Biden Department of Justice to shut down the 2020 election audit in Arizona, to drive home the point that the reason behind the indictments is deterrence.

The same people who have been trying to deter election investigations since November 2020 are finally getting their wish thanks to the Marxist Attorneys General and District Attorneys the Biden Regime sent in to go after Republicans.

The Federalist reports, The outlet cited Center for Election Innovation & Research founder David Becker - whose organization helped dump hundreds of millions of dollars in "Zuckbucks" into local election offices to influence election administration - to emphasize the "Deterrent effect." "People are going to have to think twice about doing things to undermine the election," Becker told the AP. "The deterrent effect is real." Riccardi also quoted Justin Levitt, a veteran of the left-wing Brennan Center who was tapped as a senior adviser for "Democracy and voting rights" by the Biden White House in 2021, to cheer the "Severity" of the lawfare being waged against Republicans.

A well-known election integrity advocate told The Federalist she was contacted by a New York Times reporter on Thursday and was asked whether the Arizona indictments and other "State elections cases impact your strategy/approach to the 2024 election?" Additionally, as the Federalist notes, Peter Beinart wrote an article in The Atlantic on November 21, 2016, titled "The Electoral College Was Meant to Stop Men Like Trump From Being President," as many Democrats urged electors to vote for Hillary Clinton following her 2016 defeat.

These States Are Making It Illegal for Illegal Immigrants to Enter

Conservative states across the country-Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, and Oklahoma-are taking border security matters into their own hands, proposing or passing legislation targeting illegal immigration.

The Oklahoma legislature just passed a bill designed to prohibit illegal immigrants from entering or living in the state.

HB 4156 states: "A person commits an impermissible occupation if the person is an alien and willfully and without permission enters and remains in the State of Oklahoma without having first obtained legal authorization to enter the United States." The bill passed the state House and Senate by wide margins and Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, is expected to sign it into law.

The legislature declared the issue a crisis in the state and stated in the bill: "Throughout the state, law enforcement comes into daily and increasingly frequent contact with foreign nationals who entered the country illegally or who remain here illegally."Often, these persons are involved with organized crime such as drug cartels, they have no regard for Oklahoma's laws or public safety, and they produce or are involved with fentanyl distribution, sex trafficking, and labor trafficking.

The law requires police to collect fingerprints, photographs, and biometric data, which will be cross-checked with Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation databases.

"The failure of the federal government to address this issue has turned every state into a border state," said bill sponsor state Rep. Charles Mr. McCall said in a statement.

We will not reward in Oklahoma, and we will protect our state borders.

Under the administration's catch-and-release policy, many have been released into the United States and have taken up residence all over the country.

Texas' law, Senate Bill 4, makes it a state crime to enter Texas outside legal ports of entry.

The new law, which goes into effect July 1, makes it a misdemeanor to be in the state or attempt to enter the state after being deported, denied admission to the United States, or if an individual has an outstanding deportation order.

As with the Texas law, it gives judges the discretion to drop the charges if the illegal immigrant agrees to return to the country from which he or she entered the United States.

San Diego Official Says City Is 'New Epicenter' Of Border Crisis

A San Diego County official has branded the city the "New epicenter" for illegal immigration and claimed that Border Patrol has become "The 'Uber' for migrants" entering the county.

"San Diego is the new epicenter for migrants and illegal immigration," San Diego District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond posted on the social media platform X on April 25.

"The surge in illegal crossings has propelled San Diego to the unfortunate position of leading all nine southern border sectors in April, a trend unseen since the 1990s."

On Wednesday alone, Border Patrol apprehended 2,000 illegal immigrants within the San Diego sector, according to Mr. Desmond.

The District 5 supervisor went on to state that human smugglers have identified California-and in particular the San Diego border sector-as "The path of least resistance" for illegal immigrants.

The Epoch Times has reached out to San Diego Border Patrol for further comment.

Mr. Desmond's comments come after he and other San Diego County leaders called on the state and federal governments to bolster security at the border and remove sanctuary city policies amid the ongoing immigration crisis.

Whether Presidential Immunity is a Good Thing or a Bad Thing Shouldn’t Depend Upon Party Affiliation

 Several retired four-star generals and admirals, as well as former cabinet officials, have filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court arguing that granting immunity to former presidents for actions within the outer perimeter of their official duties would raise questions about the ability of the United States to peacefully transfer power from one administration to another, and thereby pose a grave risk to national security.

The "Parade of horribles" in the retired officials' brief assumes that a future president would instruct subordinate military officers to carry out illegal orders for which they, but not the president, would be criminally liable.

To analyze the pros and cons of immunity there is no need to speculate about what some future president might do.

Should the memo from DoJ authorizing the killing of an American citizen abroad without judicial due process immunize President Obama for violating the federal criminal statute that imposes criminal penalties for the extra territorial killing of an American citizen? Could a subsequent President, a member of the opposing political party, direct a new Attorney General to investigate whether the killing of the U.S. citizen by drone attack in Yemen violated federal criminal law? If an indictment is returned against the now former President for that killing, should President Obama be allowed to claim immunity or be forced to stand trial? Situation #2 President Biden revoked many of President Trump's Executive Orders addressing border security when he took office.

If the White House switches parties when President Biden leaves, should the new president's Attorney General seek an indictment against Biden for conspiring with the Secretary of Homeland Security to violate U.S. immigration laws by facilitating the illegal entry of millions of migrants into the United States? Or should those policy choices be protected by a cloak of immunity? Situation #3 Eager to deliver on a campaign promise, President Biden announced a policy to "Forgive" billions of dollars in student loan debt.

While the former Presidents have substantive defenses to the charges and the novel theories advanced in the indictments may be rejected by the courts or nullified by a jury, should the former presidents and the country be put through the spectacle of a criminal trial? One of the major attributes of immunity is that it avoids the trial in the first place.

Presidential immunity for actions within the outer perimeter of official duties allows a president to make difficult policy and operational decisions without concern for his personal liberty once he leaves office.

On the flip side, the existence of presidential immunity may provide unwarranted protection for the actions and decisions of a president who does not really have the best interests of the country at heart.

The Constitution specifically provides that upon conviction by the Senate in an impeachment trial the person impeached "Shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law." It is tempting to favor or disfavor presidential immunity in criminal cases depending upon the political or personal like or dislike one may have for the indicted former President.

If we are to be a nation of laws every former president should be entitled to presidential immunity for alleged criminal acts committed within the outer perimeter of official duties, or no former President should be so immune.

While immunity has been litigated in the context of civil claims, no former President has been indicted for criminal acts while in office, until now.

Ex-Cassidy Hutchinson Lawyer Wins Default Judgement Against Jan. 6 Select Committee

 The lawyer who originally represented former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson before the Jan. 6 Select Committee has won a default judgement in his suit against the government.

In December, Stefan Passantino sued the government alleging that the House Democrat-led Jan. 6 investigation violated his rights to due process and tarnished his reputation for uncritically reproducing Hutchinson's claims about his legal representation of her.

Passantino's lawyers asked the court to grant a default judgement since the government had failed to plead in the case.

"As of the time of this filing, the United States of America has not answered or otherwise responded to the Complaint and thus it is in default," their filing read, according to court documents reviewed by Just the News.

The Jan. 6 Select Committee in its final report of December 2022 has accused Passantino of coaching or pressuring Cassidy Hutchinson before her testimony before the committee to stay loyal to Trump, something he has adamantly denied.

Just the News previously documented several new narratives Hutchinson brought to the committee after Passantino ceased representing her, including the infamous story about then-President Trump allegedly grabbing the wheel of the presidential vehicle in anger.

Last month, Passantino was cleared by both the Georgia and Washington, D.C. Bars after complaints were filed against him for alleged improper conduct in his representation of Hutchinson.

Israel Security Bill Includes Relief Aid 4 Times The Size Of Gaza's GDP: 'We Are Funding Hamas'

The House of Representatives Israel aid bill is under scrutiny for including more than $9 billion in humanitarian assistance, which is significantly more than the annual gross domestic product of the Gaza Strip, as critics say the U.S. is essentially funding Hamas through the bill.

The Israel bill, which passed in a 366-58 vote Saturday, allocates $26.4 billion in aid to the region, including more than $9.1 billion marked as "Migration and Refugee Assistance" and "International Disaster Assistance," to address the humanitarian needs that arose in the Gaza Strip following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

The aid is more than four times the amount of the annual GDP in the Gaza Strip, which was about $2 billion last year, according to the United Nations.

While the Israel funding bill calls for the Secretary of State to establish oversight measures to ensure that the aid is not diverted by Hamas, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist group, the fact that Hamas is the elected government of the Gaza Strip poses a significant challenge to oversight.

"We are funding Hamas. Do you realize the nightmare of this? We are funding Hamas with this 9 billion. What is wrong with this administration?" Klein also said.

Ramzi Awda, the secretary-general of the International Campaign to Combat the Occupation and Apartheid, said during a Palestinian television interview that Hamas has been stealing aid to resell it.

The aid trucks enter Gaza after being checked by the Israelis and an "Armed militia of Hamas" seizes the aid, Awda said earlier this month on Al-Awda TV, a network associated with the Fatah Party that rules the West Bank, according to The Middle East Media Research Institute.
