Somalia’s Foreign Minister, UN Ambassador, Ran Health Care Corps in Ohio

Recent allegations have surfaced regarding Somali government officials' involvement in fraudulent health care activities in the United States. Specifically, accusations involve the Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and UN Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman operating a health care company while holding significant diplomatic positions.

• Abdisalam Abdi Ali, the Somali Foreign Minister, and Abukar Dahir Osman, the UN Ambassador, are linked to a company called Progressive Health Care Services Inc. in Ohio.

• Osman's LinkedIn profile indicates he ran this company until 2019 while concurrently serving as Somalia’s UN Ambassador since 2017.

• There are potential conflicts of interest due to their roles in the Somali government and in the Ohio health care sector.

• Osman claimed asylum in the U. S. in 1986, stating he was persecuted in Somalia, which raises questions about his credibility as he reportedly did not acknowledge a genocide by Somalia against his ethnic group, the Isaaq.

• Abdisalam Ali's profile suggests he has experience in the private sector, particularly in health care, overseeing significant budgets.

• The Somaliland government has highlighted ongoing connections between Somali refugees in the U. S. and officials in the Somali government, stirring concerns about fraud in U. S. health care.

• Other Somali officials reportedly hold U. S. citizenship and hold various roles, leading to scrutiny over their ties to Somalia and the implications for U. S. relations.

These allegations point to serious issues concerning the appropriateness of Somali officials running health care businesses in the U. S. While connections between the Somali government and its expatriates exist, the legitimacy of these claims remains to be clarified. Further investigation is needed to examine the extent and impact of these individuals’ roles in both governments.
