Bondi Announces Dozens Of Somali Arrests In Widening Minn. Fraud Scandal

 U. S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest of 98 individuals in Minnesota due to ongoing fraud investigations, primarily affecting the Somali community. Among those charged, 85 are of Somali descent, and further prosecutions are expected as investigations continue.

• The charges follow reports by Nick Shirley, suggesting extensive fraud within Minnesota’s Somali community, including the controversial Feeding Our Future case, which involved misappropriation of federal funds meant for at-risk children.

• Bondi confirmed that the Department of Justice has charged 98 people, with over 60 already found guilty. She suggested that lawmakers should prepare for more prosecutions.

• Prosecutions have included a case against Asha Farhan Hassan, who allegedly participated in a $14 million fraud scheme related to autism services. She and others are accused of defrauding a public health program intended to support children with autism.

• Allegations also point to other fraudulent activities within supposed therapy services, where unqualified individuals were employed instead of trained professionals.

The investigations reveal systemic fraud in various social service programs, raising concerns about the misuse of federal funds in Minnesota.
