Trump’s Shutdown Slasher Aims To Cut Over 10,000 Jobs, Shut Down Agency

During the ongoing government shutdown, the Trump administration plans to cut over 10,000 federal jobs. This initiative, led by Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, seeks to reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy.

• Russ Vought, known as the "Grim Reaper," announced aggressive plans to close government agencies and cut jobs.

• The administration intends to target programs associated with the Green New Deal, environmental justice, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

• Vought stated the goal is to minimize bureaucracy and prioritize the interests of taxpayers.

• A U. S. District Court Judge issued a temporary restraining order to halt the layoffs, indicating they might violate federal law and expressing concerns about the human cost of such cuts.

• The White House had already sent layoff notices to about 4,200 federal workers, with the expectation that the total number of job cuts could exceed 10,000.

• Many federal employees are currently furloughed or working without pay as the shutdown continues into its third week. Meanwhile, President Trump instructed the Defense Secretary to ensure active-duty military personnel are paid using remaining congressional funds.

The Trump administration's plans to cut federal jobs have faced legal challenges, amid ongoing discussions about the impact of these reductions on government services and employees.
