Ontario’s chief medical officer of health (CMOH) has strongly recommended that masking be used in all indoor public settings including schools and child care centers.
- The COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) can remain viable and infectious in aerosols for at least hours and on surfaces for days, and is a primary source of indoor transmission. Both influenza and RSV can also spread through aerosols.
