Ghislaine Maxwell, former partner of Jeffrey Epstein and accused sexual predator, has been found dead in her cell at Metropolitan Detention Center Monday of strangulation.
She was found lifeless in her cell and promptly pronounced dead by health authorities in the prison.
Previously, Maxwell's lawyers raised issues with the former socialite's treatment in prison.
Maxwell's lawyer, Bobbi Sternheim, said Maxwell was forced to change cells at the Metropolitan detention center in Brooklyn after raw sewage permeated her cell last week.
Sternheim also said guards were still able to read Maxwell's confidential legal papers and monitor her meetings with lawyers, and that neither Maxwell nor her lawyers were allowed water during a four-hour meeting on Sunday.
Despite repeated complaints about Maxwell's treatment, "Little if anything has been done," Sternheim wrote.
Jeffrey Epstein was found in dead in his cell after being arrested in 2019.
