The story started simply, if buffoonishly, enough with, "The Treasury Department has ordered President Trump's name printed on stimulus checks the Internal Revenue Service is rushing to send to tens of millions of Americans, a process that could slow their delivery by a few days, senior IRS officials said."
"The unprecedented decision, finalized late Monday, means that when recipients open the $1,200 paper checks the IRS is scheduled to begin sending to 70 million Americans in coming days, 'President Donald J. Trump' will appear on the left side of the payment," the Post reported.
"A key part of the American Rescue Plan is direct payments of $1,400 per person for most Americans households," the letter reads.
Where does all this money come from? Does Joe Biden possess a magic unicorn that, when fed grass clippings, poops $20 bills? No mention of that in the letter, but it seems unlikely.
More curious to me is the lack of any outrage over a taxpayer funded letter, clearly political in nature, being sent out to tens of millions of Americans.
The only differences appear to be the letter is unambiguously designed to raise people's feelings about Biden and that it's a Democrat doing it this time.
Since, at least theoretically, by law you must have a basic functionality in English to become an American citizen, the need for a Spanish version seems curious.
