To avoid offense to any cultural, social, national, regional, professional, or ethnic groups, and minimize any negative impact on trade, travel, tourism or animal welfare.
Disease: Assigning new names to existing diseases is the responsibility of WHO under the International Classification of Diseases and the WHO Family of International Health Related Classifications (WHO-FIC).
Variants/clades: The naming of variants for existing pathogens is normally the result of debate amongst scientists.
FDA expands EUA for Monkeypox shot for children
Now, health care providers can administer the Bavarian Nordic's JYNNEOS vaccine through an alternative method of injection (between layers of the skin rather than below the skin), increasing available doses from 441,000 to more than 2.2 million.
There have been no deaths associated with the shot, but there have been significant adverse effects including cardiac arrhythmias and anemia.
